Have it ever been discovered what Roths wifes first name was? I happened to come across it by accident.

(BTW, I thought Johnny Ola lived in Miami in order to be near Hyman Roth - not in Tampa.)

We never hear her name in the film, nor do we know that she's his wife (she could have been a hired nurse or caretaker). But Fay Spain, the actress who played her, is listed as "Marcia Roth" in the credits at the back of Harlan Lebo's book.

On her IMDB page Fay Spain is also credited there as playing Marcia Roth and Mrs Marcia Roth in The Godfather: A Novel for Television and The Godfather: Part II.

How many of you picked up on her address to Michael as Mr. Paul?

I was just looking at the GF2 script for what you mentioned about Mrs. Roth calling him Mr. Paul and i noticed she's called Terri Roth on that script page. Huh?

It seems that Mr. Paul was the alias Michael used.

I never could remember what she called him but I knew it wasn't Mr. Corleone. I imagine Roth would do that with a lot of his friends to keep the wife at bay.

I also didn't know Ola lived in Tampa. Oddly enough my Aunt's common law husband drove from Tampa to Miami every weekend. He was as dirty as a mobster, matter of fact we think he was involved in the Tampa scene during the 80's.

Tampa was the home of a major crime family, so maybe Ola and Roth were aligned with them or something. Seems like Roth had a lot of friends...until no one would give him asylum.

dt, as you know, the real-life Meyer Lansky had a right-hand man, Vincent (Jimmy Blue Eyes) Alo, who was not subservient as Ola was, but was kind of a Mafia presence who verified Lansky's status as counselor and money-maker for the Mob, and probably scared away would-be intruders. That's one of the reasons Lansky never had a real organization behind him.

Lansky also was an ally of Santos Trafficante, the Mob boss of Tampa, who was the biggest Mafia casino owner in pre-Castro Havana.

....and here is the rest of the story. I came across Fay Spain, while researching the film "God's Little Acre", which she was in. All the sites I found listed her name as Marica Roth, Hymans wife.

Once Hyman was out of the picture, and his wife entered the convent, I sought asylum in Tampa, to be closer to Spring Training Baseball.

Wouldn't have that been kinda hard after Michael's strangled you to death?
