Afaik just this is what they DON'T do anymore.

I heard that it's so outdated to kill ppl because of DNA-Tests and surveillance and all this stuff, that not even Guys who want to get made have to kill anybody. (Jack Garcia in oldschool-Capo Greg DePalma's crew for example didn't utter a word about having to show even a bit capability for violence to get made)

Actually, do they still whack anyone?

You rarely hear of anybody connected to the mob getting shot or disappearing... Only thing i heard (ofc except from the cowboy-canadians) from post-2005 was that in 2012 some guy got shot (not even lethally) by a Gambino-Associate from the Bronx...

So, the question is: Does the LCN still perform hits, or do they all fear the day when even the last pop in his cornershop gets that they can't bring this shit anymore...

Excuse my english, im obviously not a native speaker.

That still looks like quite an impressive list to me.

November 4,2003 Genovese associate Gary D. Westerman - murdered by Anthony Arillotta, Emilio Fusco, and Ty & Freddy Geas. Was killed over personal beefs and for being a state police informant.

Yeah, but in general the mentality towards killing ppl has changed, right? That list is extremely small, compared to how long it was once.
For example i can't really imagine a US-american Family to fight a war as bloody as the one in Canada anymore.

Excessive murder is what frightens ppl, either of prison or for their own life, and the reachthrough against killings (mandatory life for example) has IMO greatly contributed to so many mob guys ratting out against their familys.

For example, if there is a dispute between the families, that would have been settled by whacking a wiseguy with a probability of 90% in the old days, has now probably a chance of 10% at most.

Can you say that?

I agree with most you've said here other than the part i bolded, i think it's excessive violence that put the fear into people, when it turns to frequent murder a public outcry usually ensues resulting in stricter Law Enforcment. Just my opinion though and i'm not just talking about LCN.

I'm surprised you think that list is small, until Ivy posted it i had no idea that many had happened in the 21st century.

10 years and we have almost 20 hits, now that is big even if you dont count the personal disputes.

It has become less yes, but we dont have any sensational hits. Thats the reason we dont see or hear it so often. Perhaps the hits of Big Al, Long John Martorano and Montagna can be put in the big hits list.

I only did a quick search, i'm sure Ivy posted a more complete list including the hits you mentioned maybe excluding Montagna since it was in Canada. I just picked the first one i found to show more has happened than the op has suggested, Ivy has already posted the list 4 or 5 times presumably updated.

Genovese still do discipline whackings .
No question if you break the rules, your dead. I think many still fear them.
I bet they still have a sizes able extortion racket .

The Bonnano family is young and has a lot of drug activity so they still
Appear to be doing hits as that's the business.

I haven't read or heard about much from the other families , somewhat
Surprising IMO about the Gambinos as they are still big , pretty powerful and
Have drug earners and still have some historically violent leaders.

Chicago killings seems to be rare today , especially given their past.
There big business seems to be sharking and book but I always wonder
How their members seem to make good money.
Possibly the reason they keep membership down. Family secrets
Showed Frank Calabrese was basically only a loan shark yet had cash. Nick
Was a brokster tho but still from what I read and hear those still active have cash .

We all know violence is way down , senseless killings which used to
Be the norm is non existent. It was the penalty
Back in the day in the debt biz , now it's way different. LCN evolved

One recent hit that intrigues me and I wish I knew more about is Frank Lagano
Who was with the Luchesse and done in 2007, he was a snitch.
Obviously most rats aren't messed with today but some do get street justice.
I wouldn't want to be a rat on the west side and living in the area

There is a rumor Leonetti has gone low key again as some loyal to Chin would whack him first chance.

I think that the 2013 stabbing by Geritano was a fight in a restaurant, not a mob hit or hit attempt.

Didn't the 2013 Enzo Stanzo shooting turn out to be a false story regarding him being mob connected ? It was very recent, and they said att he time he claimed to be a Bonanno Family soldier. After that there was no follow up statements by police, and his claim seemed to be lie on his part. Or has there been more information in it?

The question seemed to be whether he was made or just an associate. Not that there wasn't a mob connection of some kind.

How does the commission react to these personal beefs? I thought they would have to give permission for someone to get killed, so surely who ever whacked the guy over something personal should get whacked as well?
