Who is the official boss? Gigante has been gone for a while now seems they should have an official godfather at this point and not an acting boss.

I honestly don't believe that they have an official boss. It's more difficult for the feds to pinpoint someone as "the guy" for the purposes of building a major case. But for all I know, they could have a boss and half the family doesn't even know about it. That's just the way they've always been.

Speculation (both by the feds and, for what it's worth, guys "in the know" on this board) has held for the past several years that the family is run by some sort of panel consisting of some combination of Barney Bellomo, Quiet Dom, Ernie Muscarella, Larry Dentico, and, now that he's a free man again, Danny Leo.

I take dentico out the mix he like 90ty, retired..maybe quite dom whats he85. They.probaly got super respect but not in any acting spots add eggs to the rwtired club. If you go back to prisco back on a wire in 04 saying he would surport.barney other then leo who was acting boss then, but the feds said nigro was boss back then bit I think.theres a offical boss today.

Yeah, I wanted to take Dentico off but I'm sure he is consulted on some decisions, especially in Jersey, so in my mind he could still be considered part of a ruling panel. Lots of people are saying Benny Eggs resumed his role as underboss but I think after a long stretch in the can he is probably satisfied with being retired.

In 2009, the New York Daily News reported the family was being run by a "rotating panel" consisting of Mangano, Bellomo, Muscarella, and Dentico.

(Theoretically at least, and depending on his health, even at such an advanced age Dentico could still be on the panel and wouldn't have to necessarily oversee things day to day).

In 2011, after his death, the New York Times reported that Tino Fiumara had been on a three man ruling panel running the family. The article didn't name the other two guys but they may have been some of the ones above.

Official boss? I dont think so. I think its a panel that chooses one or more temporary acting/street/front bosses, underbosses, whatever. I wouldnt write any of the senior guys off just for age. A good guess? Take a look at who was closest to the village guys. Dentico, mangano, cirillo, gigante, all these guys could be decision makers. The heaviest guy in the street today IS barney. Hands down not even close. Hes thirty yrs senior on made guys his age. Look who schooled him, sammy black, tony, and chin. Most internet researchers act like vinny b was the biggest heroin dealer in the bx but no one mentions barney. Ppl forget him and sal larca sr were partners. Plus no one whos still breathing or on the street can come close to how violent he was in his day. The guy was chins bulldog for fucks sakes. A guy as violent as chin had him do his work.... Barney could be number 1, but i doubt now he wants it.
