He was key in bringing over many sicilians and strengthening the Gambino's at a time where as many people say, the talent pool was dwindling and it was getting hard to find new blood during the Gotti regime. Much of the administration currently, had served under Conte in some capacity in the past. Cefulu and Cali from what I understand basically took over the Zip Crew once Conte did some jailtime and as their stars rose once he came back it was established that it was no longer his crew to run and that new blood was now in control.

Carlo's son Tommy is Thomas "Tommy" Gambino and he's the one who ran the garment district.

The 3 sons that are the sons of the 3 zip Gambino brothers John, Rosario and Joe are Tommaso Gambino's.

Carlo's son Thomas was out in LA too. He has a place in Beverly Hills and is retired. I don't know if he lives there full time or if he splits his time betwen NY and LA.

Both are or were in LA at one time. Carlo's son Thomas is retired. He has a home in Beverly Hills.

Rosario Gambino's son Tommaso is the one who was made into the LA Family. He's 39. The only reason he was in LA was because his father Rosario was imprisoned at Terminal Island at the time and his family moved to LA to be closer to him. At one time Rosario's cellmate was Michael Franzese who was also at Terminal Island when Rosario was first tranferred there. Jimmy Caci was also locked up there too and he made Tommaso Gambino into the LA family as a favor to Rosario.

All three of the Gambino brothers John, Rosario and Joe named their first born son Tommaso after their father who was Tommaso Gambino. It's a sicilian thing.
