In the beginning of the book, it talks about Vito Corleone's 3 kids. Sonny, Fredo , then Michael. If you read it, when they talked about michael and how is father was worried about his Masculinality, I'm confused what is Mario Puzo saying in a less complicated way ?
"You sonofabitch, do you know who I am? I'm Moe Greene! I made my bones when you were going out with cheerleaders."

At Connie's wedding, Michael sits apart from his family, to demonstrate his independence and his disapproval of the family business. Obviously, he was different than his brothers. Puzo paints a picture of Michael as being quieter,more reserved, more inner-directed than his brothers when he was younger. Puzo paints the Don as being concerned because he might have thought that Michael's stand-offishness was a sign that he was lacking in "male" characteristics. But, we infer that Michael lost his virginity at age 16, and the Don knew about it and was relieved.

Moving to the Godfather Novel forum...
