Would Paulie even want the top spot? He was basically semi-retired and Tony had hard time convincing him to take over the Aprile crew.

The family would probably be run by a rulling pannel of 3-4 guys who would also be captains of the remaining 3-4 crews. Paulie, Patsy, Anthony Maffei and Al Barese. Benny, Paulie Germani and Walden were too young to be captains, were they even made?

I guess its just assumed benny is made bc tony promises it to him when he was in the hospital, and walden acts like he was carlos number 2 but there was nothing in the show to confirm they were made and little paulie again no confirmation. Ya a ruling panel is a good possibility but albert over larry?

IMO Al would be acting capo of Larry's crew and then Larry would take over once he's out of jail and replace him in the rulling pannel.

Walden was sort of a bodyguard and driver for Carlo, I don't think he was number 2 or something in that crew. That's why Tony gave control over that crew to Paulie.

I assume that if the creators of the show decided to make another season they would introduce some random older guys from different crews, just like they introduced Carlo, Maffei and some other guys in the 6th season. It's hard to imagine guys in their 30s/early 40s (Benny, Walden) as captains in today's Italian-American mob.

Well. Seeing as I don't believe that we were made awaare of every member of the soprano family, its tough to judge. But for hypo purposes. Id say Barese woulda stepped up to run the family. Obviously, shit was in tatters after tony died, and i think the other crews would have been fed up with leadership. I think Paulie would have stuck running his crew and Barese would have taken the top seat. For whatever its worth...

It's also likely that the guys from NY would install some puppet and run the NJ family through him. They tried that with Burt Gervasi.

I agree with you. Barese should have been the new Boss. He was the most qualified.

1) He should have had one man in His Crew be his Junior Partner ( Top Assistant).

2) Retained His Crew as his power base.

3 Then had all the other crews partner with him.
