Anyone else love Carmela? For an older lady, she's kind of cute in Part I, with her singing and her bashful old fashioned Italian nature. "No, no, no" all bashful about singing, and then sings wonderfully. And in Part II we can see she was very much her husband's wife; by that I mean, she understood both who he was, accepted it and complemented him perfectly, and she seemed to be pretty wise and smart herself.

I wish rustic sort of old fashioned Italian women were around today who were young, but who held on to the traditions of Italy...Like a modern day Carmela Corleone. Not a "guidette" or "Jersey Shore" girl but a tasteful old fashioned Italian girl

Ya in the flashbacks in part two shes pretty hot. The perfect mafia wife in part 1 and in part 2 shes the perfect mafia mom to micheal.

Yeah but beyond that, she seems to have a lot of wisdom of her own, almost like a female version of her husband. And she's not ashamed of what he does or loathe sit, like Kay, but even brought it to him with the Colombo situation. And the way she handles Connie at the confirmation was masterful, almost like the way an older (but more Americanized) Vito would act. And you can tell she loves Vito very much....

A true wife. Not a Carmela Soprano.

Yes shes the complete opposite of carmela soprano who doesnt support her husband just wants to count the money. The actress that portrayed her(forgot her name) played the part perfectly. Yes she does seem to have a lot of wisdom although shes a women of few words. I got to say my favorite part with her is in part 2 the night of the opening party where theyre all at the table eating, micheal fredo tom kay and frank p, and frank says hes not there to eat and spills his wine as an insult. After he does this they show carmela for a few seconds and her face shows it all,she knows this guys being disrespectful, hard for me to explain what i mean but i think you get it. And i 100 percent agree with you about old fashioned italian girls, i dont find any of those jersey shore girls attractive at all.

I get what you mean, that look she gives. A very stern look of disapproval. She might've had a lot of love for her husband but I get the sense that, perhaps outside of Clemenza, she probably had little love for his subordinates. But she probably didn't show that publicly, probably played the good and cordial wife of the Don.

I think a lot of those old school Italian wives were just as strong if not stronger than their husbands. Men might've been stricter with their wives but I think the wives were sort of the unspoken power behind the men in a lot of ways. Or at least the ones who brought them back down to Earth, without even a word but even just a glance or look.

Women who obey their husband, who know their place is at home, who can be slapped if they disobey...
That kind of women? And that kind of relationship?

She was a woman of her ethnicity and her era, and subordinate to Vito, yet she had Vito's complete respect and that of her sons. Sonny goes out of his way to tell Michael he'll straighten it out with mom about his not being able to say goodbye properly. Sonny also minds her when she tells him not to interfere.
Even Michael, bas ass that he was went to her in a moment of remorse asking her whether by protectiing his family he could lose it.

And of course Michael would do no harm to Fredo as long as their mother was still alive, so she would not feel the pain of losing a second son.

Mama gave an interview to Life Magazine after Vito died. In it she admitted that she was well aware that her husband was a murderer or instructed others to murder many times over. She also stated that she knew that he presided over a criminal empire that fostered every kind of despicable human conduct. But she stated, "This dress looks simple, but it's Dior. These shoes: Christian Louboutin. Who am I to judge?"

So, first people are ignorant, now they're creepy. Gee, glad you don't mean to be insulting to anyone. Have you posted anything constructive?

Maybe you should make a quick visit to Wikipedia to see what role play actually means..
