I have just finished the book and I think it is safe to say that this is my all time favorite book.

I'm with you. (Sadly, after reading the Godfather, my previous favorite, "The Plague" by Albert Camus was moved to second best. wink )

It's always hard for me to like books, because I always think the endings don't work the way they should. But the Godfather is PERFECT. I think when Kay starts going to church everyday is totally the way to end it.

I absolutely loved the book. It was beyond words.

There are men in this world who go about demanding to be killed. You must have noticed them. They quarrel in gambling games, they jump out of their automobiles in a rage if someone so much as scratches their fender, they humiliate and bully people whose capabilities they do not know. I have seen a man, a fool, deliberately infuriate a groop of dangerous men, and he himself without any resources. These are people who wander arround the world shouting 'Kill me. Kill me.' And there is always someone always ready to oblige them. We read about it in the newspapers everyday. Such people of course do a great deal of harm to others also.
-Don Corleone about Luca Brasi

The Godfather is with out a doubt a really great book. But Its not my favorite. My favorite book is No one here gets out alive.

Leonard: I dont know. See, I have this condition.
Teddy: Well, I hope its not as serious as his, 'cos this guy's dead.

well, I never read books (because I really really hate hate hate reading), but did purchase The Godfather novel (in Dutch), and I loved it. So yes, it's my favorite book because I don't read others, but then again, for a book-hater really loving the damn thing... it's wonderfull (even though I knew a lot from the movies, and I'm originally a movies-man)

"The Godfather" novel is a highly addictive book. I keep going back to it to read it again and again. Definitely a masterpiece.

personally I wouldn't think the real mafia is so charming as the Corleone Family... but if you want to see it for yourself, I'm sure they're still around..somewhere (altough it seems like the Cosa Nostra syndicat isn't very active these days).
