My recollections were that Joe flipped to avoid the death penalty on the Pizzolo murder.

He also got to keep the house for Mrs Joe (nee Vitale).

Releasing is a stretch.

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go.
MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'.
WILL: So don't go.

It was the Sciascia murder, IIRC. I suppose that he not only avoided the death penalty but was also asssured that he would not spend the rest of his life behind bars. His health problems probably assist him in that regard as well.

Letting him out would be a disgrace to American Justice system. He got too sweet of a deal in the first place, and now they want o sweeten it even more. Maybe this was planned all along.

How many murders over the years did Massino confess he either did himself or ordered the hit?

The 2004 case involved at least seven counts of either murder or conspiracy to commit murder. You got the three Capos who Sonny Black's crew whacked, plus Tony Mirra,Caesar Bonventure,Sonny Black himself, and the Sciascia hit, which carried the death penalty due to a 1994 change in the Racketeering statutes.

I also think that releasing Massino this soon is a travesty, but remember,it's the Feds who are asking, and they could give a rat's behind about what's fair. They want to keep the door open for the next high ranking snitch,so Gravano and Massino's sweet deals can be used as an incentive.

The Fed's will do whatever it takes to keep the Congressional
Budget money ever flowing and ever increasing. They have no problem pissing away our taxes to keep psychopathic, multiple murderers alive in the Program after they've served a token sentence. As long as they can be perceived as "Breaking The Mob",they'll do anything.

Wouldn't it be a bitch if Massino goes into the Program, then pulls a Gravano and gets popped for some more major felonies?

Massino is 70 years old
he's no longer a danger to the community
He's overweight and diabetic
He had people to kill for him
He no longer will have people to kill for him

Gravano was 50 when he was sent free
He was young and still wanted to b active
And had access to young dealers because of his kid Gerard

Has anyone ever told you that you post like you're writing Haiku poems?

It really would not surprise me if Massino is being released. At this point, keeping him in jail in his condition for any length of time is basically a death sentence as is. He's overweight, has diabetes, and suffers from high blood pressure.

If the guy lives to be 90 then, yeah, it's a major miscarriage of justice but with his medical state like it is he might last another five years.

I agree that Massino will probably be a better risk in WITSEC than the Bull was. I was half-kidding about him getting involved in any more crime.

On the other side of the coin,it is true that he may only live a few more years,so it would be humane to give him an early release. At the risk of sounding like an ***hole, let me say that I don't think he deserves it, not this soon. He escaped the needle, and I'm sure that as part of his deal he is doing easier time than the average multiple murderer.
Maybe in another few years, but that's just my opinion.

I also had a major problem with the five years that the Bull got for his double digit killings.
As I stated in another thread,I understand why they get these deals, and I think it stinks.

This prison is a real shit hole. Brutal winters and cracks and holes in the walls/windows. He is probably in the hole and worst off then at the ADX.

You don't go from supermax to CCM for no reason, somethings been going on.

This is the BOP's desciption of MINNEAPOLIS CCM :

Community corrections is an integral component of the Bureau's correctional programs. Community corrections staff develop and administer contracts for community-based correctional programs and serve as the Bureau's local liaison with the Federal courts, the U.S. Marshals Service, state and local corrections, and a variety of community groups.
