I came across this article a couple days ago. Basically it claims that the DeCavalcante Family officially answered to John Gotti after 1988, and to do that Gotti had John Riggi's Underboss Vincent Rotondo killed. First I want some opinions on how real this could be. I think all of us were just under the impression that they were heavily controlled by Gotti, but only unofficially.

Second, this really interests me. Rotondo operated his crew in Brooklyn with no interference for decades. Guy has to have a lot of muscle to do that. How many made men in the DeCavalcante family were based in New York around this time? Any names? Thanks.

They made two guys in the 90's who were operating out of Lower Manhattan, but afterwards they had a sit-down with Vinny Aloi and a few other guys and were told they could only make Jersey based guys from now on, also both capo Phil Abramo and acting boss Vinny Ocean were based out of NY at one point

I also am pretty sure that Rotondo was never underboss. Are you thinking of Louis Larossa?
