One thing I've noticed in my dealings with Sicilians, more to the point, Sicilian women, is that once they hold a grudge or a hatred, there is nothing that can ever break that or change their mind. Sicilian men don't seem to be this way, but it seems Sicilian women, once wronged or once they feel wronged, never let go of any hatred or grudge they feel. They can be incredibly vicious, too, and no amount of rationality will change their mind once it's set.

Anyone ever gotten this impression about Sicilian women? Why are they like this?

My grandmother--an 86 year old Irish lady who married an Italian man--said a saying in her day went something like, "Napolitans are lovers, Sicilians are murderers." She probably got that from my grandfather, who was Napolitan, or one of his family members. I doubt she heard that saying from her Irish neighborhood or from her father who thought Italians were "inside out ni**ers."

Im also half irish and half italian and my grandmother on my mothers side is from sicily and she was convinced that her new neighbor stole something from her mail box so everyday she would wake up really early and go and steal their newspaper, she did it everyday for over 20 years until she passed away recently. She held the grudge literally till the day she died.

LOL love this thread..When I was 20, my cousin was getting married and although his bride wasn't Sicilian or Italian it was one of those large Italian weddings. Some guy grabbed my sister's ass on the dance floor so I immediately jumped on him and started pounding the shit out of him. Three guys jumped on me and started to pummel me until 1 of my cousins jumped in and pulled 2 of them off me. This guy had me from behind around the neck and was choking me. All of a sudden I hear a CRASHHHHHHHHHHH and glass is flying everywhere as the guy releases his hold on me ans collapses to the floor. I turn around to see my 5'2" 120 lb. 59 YEAR OLD MOM holding only the handle of a HUGE glass pitcher in her hand..:) The cops came and somebody pointed my Mom out as the person who hit the guy over the head...My Mom looks at the copper and says..'I'M 59 YRS OLD AND A CANCER SURVIVOR LOOK AT HIM AND THEN LOOK AT ME HOW THE F*CK COULD I HIT HIM!!!!!!!!!' then winks at me....;) She didn't get arrested, nobody did lol one of the fun things about Cicero, Il in those days...;) SICILIAN MOMS ARE THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...:)

You're damn right about Roosevelt Road. TECHNICALLY on the South Side because it's 12 blocks south of the dividing line.
In reality, it's the WEST SIDE. In the past, The most traveled upon road by Outfit guys in Chicago was Roosevelt Road!
