I recommend it for sure. The reason I'm really enjoying this book is because it isn't the same old Whitey & Stevie story this time. This is Stevie's story, starting at his very beginnings. Comprised mostly of statements and accounts of past criminal activity given by Flemmi himself. The book paints a vivid picture of gang-infested Boston in the 1960's when Flemmi's relationship with H. Paul Rico blossomed from casual conversations to Stevie being cultivated into a full-time federal informant. Flemmi would at times literally call Rico after walking in the door prior to just burying a body, and inform him in no uncertain terms of the murder and who it was.
The book goes through pretty much every murder section by section from Stevie's early days under Wimpy Bennett, including the murders of all three Bennett brothers. So far I'll give it 4****

I'm in the middle of Hitman right now. I always wanted a Flemmi book myself he always interested me a lot more than Whitey. The book really is awesome. Stevie in his days was a remorseless killer with Frank Salemme at his side. Murder after murder after murder, the two were a true two man death squad.

Has anyone read the book about Jerry Angiulo? I was wondering if it was worth finding or not.

Just finished it. It has some good background on the Patriarcas and bug transcripts from Anguilo's office bug. The FBI's inept attempts at trying to spy on Agiulo are entertaining.

It was published in the late '80s before the truth about Connolly came out. I read the edition released after Black Mass came out (some authors) and even though they noted the FBI's wrongdoings in the intro, it retained the text that still made Connolly and John Morris seem like heroes, that was pretty nauseating.

Pretty good if you don't know much about the Patriarcas, which was informative for me, but otherwise it's your run-of-the-mill "hardworking FBI agents crack scumbag mobsters" book.
