Puzo didn't make a mistake - it's just how it's interpretted. There were 5 Families, including the Corleones. It's like NJ referring to The United States in which they are a part... at least that's what I assume he meant.

What is even more bizzare or "confusing" is that Don Peterson, who started this poll, didnt even vote. According to the little text box, 0 users have voted so he didnt even vote in his own poll.

Yes. Puza did make a mistake. there are simply 5 Families including the Corleones. a 6th family was not introduced so there are only FIVE! Moe green don't count because he don't run a family. he just runs a small crew of Men and controls a Hotel in Vegas. Sollozzo doesn't count because he does not run a family but a small crew of servants who do his bidding. He is just a Drug Smuggler
