Is Jack Tocco now the longest term boss after Joseph "Lead Pipe Joe" Todaro Sr die this year?

From now on, nothing goes down unless I'm involved. No blackjack no dope deals, no nothing. A nickel bag gets sold in the park, I want in. You guys got fat while everybody starved on the street. Now it's my turn.

If i'm not mistaking Todaro and Tocco both became boss in the early 80's (not sure who was first) while Carmine Persico has been boss since the early to mid 70's even though the majority of that time he's been in prison.

Tocco became official boss in 1979. Todaro Sr became official boss in 1981.

There you go then both Tocco and Persico were boss longer than Todaro and Buffalo's basically been dead for a while anyway.

I never said he was a great boss, your question was who was the longest since Todaro dies so i told you, besides buffalo's more or less been dead for years. Also i've never heard anyone say anything about Carmine other than he was a terrible boss. So who overrates him?

What about Carlo Caputo from Madison? Here they say he was boss for 53 years. By the way, there isn't much information about him on internet.

Nobody here thinks they have all the facts. We are all here to learn from eachother. Camarel was kind enough to answer your question. You should respect and appreciate that.

With that being said, welcome to the boards F_White.

That is the most info I've ever read about the Madison Family/Caputo. Don't know who wrote it, but I'm glad they did. If I had to guess, Caputo was an off-shoot of the Balistrere Family in Milwaukee or the Outfit. He had a long run that's for sure. If he was indeed an LCN boss, and did have a Family to run, he should be on the most successful boss list. Does anyone know if he was at Apalachin? That might indicate his status.

Info on Caputo is extremely sparse. But it looks like he was a part of Joe Aiello´s Mafia group in Chicago in the 1920s. When the Capone gang got the best of them, many of the Chicago mafiosi fled and settled in cities like Milwaukee and Madison. There must have been an agreement worked out after the Castellammarese war because those mafiosi who had fled Chicago (Caputo being one of them) were allowed to live in peace and to set up their own Mafia groups. He was not among the arestees at Apalachin but that doesn´t mean he wasn´t there. It's possible that he managed to escape the raid.
According to his FBI files, Caputo was completely retired from the Mafia by 1975. I could be wrong, but I don´t think there was a Mafia Family in Madison left by that time.

When i say overrated i mean to think he control the family for close to 40 years from jail.Is he the front boss like Tony was for Vincent for the fed at this point?

I would assume Caputo was probably equal to Lew Farrell in Des Moines Iowa. Not running a "family" per say, but more like a crew of the Outfit or for Frankie Bal.

Fair enough i thought you meant overrated as in me or someone else was calling him an effective boss when he clearly isn't, no he's the official boss he's stayed in power because the Colombo family is packed with his family members. Some people think his son Allie will become boss after his death even though he's serving a life sentence too.

I believe the book Vicious Circles Mafia in the Marketplace briefly touched on connection between the NY Families and the Madison family and their control over the cheese industry. It has been a while since I read that book though.
