Here you have what is probably one of the most "liberal" cities in the world...which in fact is not really a city at all, but rather a bunch of small municipalities strung together to make a city. Cambridge, Watertown, Brookline, etc. are technically not part of Boston, and Thomas Menino is not their mayor.

After the attacks, on the mere say so of the police, the, governor of Massachusetts and Menino, the entire town voluntarily put itself on lockdown so the search for the bad guys could go on, and the danger of further bombings would be abated.

I mean we are talking big time ACLU types here...real individuals. Yet they all obeyed these orders, and effectively martial law was in effect with tanks rilling down the streets...the works. When people were asked to provide information and photos from cell phones or whatever, they flooded the authorities with help. The guy who found Suspect #2 in the boat went out for a smoke, saw the blood, went inside and called 911.

This is an astonishing response and I do not think it would have happpened in any other American city. I know in Florida when Hurricanes are coming and people are told to stay inside, every other moron with a surfboard heads to the beach, and people drive through flooded streets to rubber neck. In New York they would have NEVER obeyed this order. In LA there would have been car chases, the cops would have burned several irrelevant places to the ground, there would have been shoot outs, and the bad guys may have escaped.

I credit this common sense to the true community spirit that thrives in what may be America's most patriotic city.

Well there were no tanks but yea. Watertown was in a mandatory lock down, well, at least the search area, the rest was voluntary. I think everyone wanted to find them so if it helped to stay out of the way then that's what everyone was gonna do, as you said common sense.

It wouldn't have worked here in Detroit, that I know.

Why is the government trying to make these fucks look like a couple "Lone Wolfs"? we now are seeing evidence that they were organized and not alone. why did the judge and US Atty. give Miranda rights. Now some evidence comes out that Magistrate has visited some muslim countries. If it is true that Mrs obama visited the bomber in the hospital as numerous e mails suggest I would wonder why but have not been able to confirm. Boston is NOT the only patriotic city

Do you really think that the First Lady of the United States visited a terrorist in the hospital? Do you think she bought him flowers and candy, too? He's 19, maybe she sent him a stripper as well.

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

The "public safety exception" is just that. Authorities can ask questions to determine if there is any other immediate threat. But once that's determined not to be the case or otherwise dealt with a suspect is entitled to his or her Miranda rights. Rights don't apply on whim of government agents. They don't "give" anybody rights.

US citizens can not be tried in military tribunals.
