Although it is by Drive writer/director Nicolas Winding Refn, and stars Ryan Gosling, this isn't a sequel to that film. From what I understand, Gosling plays a drug trafficker/bare-knuckle boxer in the Bangkok underworld.

I saw the movie but thought it was a little too slow paced. The action was great when there was action, but the music dramatized it too the point where I became bored and desensitized to all the violence.

This movie was 90% crap. It was nothing like Drive. The violence is overstylized and has no point. It's extremely graphic. Freudian/Oedipal elements dominate. They even strangle the life from the film.

I did like it. But even if you hated it I'd recommend the Pusher trilogy by Winding Refn. Heavily influenced by Mean streets.
