So, they have been making a lot of threats towards South Korea and USA. Do you think it'll go into a full action war? this seems to be a repeating pattern for a while now. they ramp up on the miltary threats, and then sit down with the south and "negotiate". who knows, but it seems like these recent threats are a direct result of Kim Jong-un wanting to show what a toughguy he is.

Maybe we could drop fliers with pictures of Dick Cheney over their capital. That would scare them. Hell that would scare me! I doubt they know Dick Cheney over there. It's a good plan for Iran though. Some days Iran and North Korea look like Kissing Cousins.

The tricky thing with the North is that it has a huge conventional force with tons of artillery pointed at the South that can/would rain hell on the capital of South Korea, Seoul within minutes. South Korea is one of the worlds most important economies and an important American ally. North Korea has the fifth largest active military conventional force in the world, SCUD missiles, 8-15 nukes, plus missiles to target mainland Japan and Guam.

For years my friend, who was Director of the Reserves in the Pentagon for two years, would always take part in exercises on the North/South border. There are plans in place to defend against confrontations from the North, and despite army and artillery size he always insisted that the effects of an invasion would be surprisingly minimal as the conflict would be dominated by naval forces and North Korea has no navy despite being on a peninsula. Right and how long have we been in Iraq now?

Yet they posted some photo shopped pics of troops storming the beaches on an exercise, with loads of ships in the background?? Don't they realise that the US has the intelligence to work out if they have a navy or not?? Talk about living in the bubble

as far as china approving what they are doing, not very likely. i doubt that the chinese want anything to with any pointless problems brought on by a mad regime that really offers up nothing as an ally besides a physical buffer.
while the north definatly posses a very strong military, i believe the true motivation of its forces are very weak. sure, with the regime in power they will fight hard, as they know their families will be butchered if they don't, but i believe things would come crumbling down awfully fast as soon as their command and control and logistics were wiped out with a few surgical strikes.
soon after, i believe the majority of soldiers would have no problems surrendering, they are people too, and i doubt many of them share the same crazy gene as the dear leader. everything in that country is a charade, as was most evident by the forced, mandatory fake crying when the last dear leader met his end.

Talk about living in the bubble These sort of stuff is for their own people, trying to show such a huge military power they are, so that the little fella's power gets consolidated. I don't think they are actually planning to attack.

Right and how long have we been in Iraq now? Well, you do know we've been out of Iraq for a year and a half. That war was mismanaged from the beginning. But the key difference is that we can not have an extended occupation in North Korea because China wouldn't want it.

Also why do all their generals have massive hats??
Probably to hide the bad haircuts. Is there not one decent barber in North Korea? They have no money to pay for hair cuts, so have to do it themselves, hence the bad rugs

They are just trying to scare people and get attention, If they do try to launch an atomic bomb, I think it would go up only about 20 feet then fall right back on them. I laughed when some one on radio called their leader Kim Jong Un-hinged.
I think our newspeople in American know it is is false threat, but are running story as if it is real threat to get ratings. WE should thank North Korea....it has given us a great reason to send more weapons to Guam and Japan is what I heard last night from an retired serviceman. and we should not fall asleep like the people that cry wolf so many times. This is still a game of chicken and who will blink first and no one wants to play that game with crazy people.
