Just read in another topic Tony's reference to a real life boss (Profaci). Offhand, other than Gotti Sr., I don't recall any other reference to a real life mafioso, past or present. There must have been loads, huh? You guys recall any?

Paulie makes a reference to the Colombo war saying he survived by the skin of his teeth, i think there was reference to Carlo Gambino too.

There were references to both Carlo Gambino and Lucky Luciano. Tony seeks guidance from Hesh about his temper saying "You don't see Carlo or Lucky punching fuckin holes in the wall!".

Yeah that was what i was thinking about. Not a reference but the story of the guy burning the tranny with acid was based on Johnny Dio doing the same to some guy back un the day.

When Tony is discussing Pussy with Silvio after the cop says he is wired for sound, they mention Gravano.

Also, when Johnny Sac is trying to get Tony to kill Carmine Sr, he makes reference to the Castellano hit, but i guess those are all Gotti references as well.

Also, Pontecorvo mentions Joe Bonnanno when he wants to retire, and in one of the doctors office scenes, uncle junior says something about how OC used to be peaceful, and Tony goes yeah I remember how peaceful Anastasia looked on the floor, or something like that.

When Tony goes golfing with those friends of Dr. Cusimano they mention real life mob hits like Carmine Galante. Tony also mentions Albert Anastasia to Junior in another episode.

Same scene is the one they mention John Gotti.

Janice mentions Paul Castellano when she tries to manipulate Richie into killing Tony. "Tell that to Paul Castellano", she says.

I remember Meadow referencing to Lucky Luciano at the dinner table in Season 1. She continued angering Tony by naming the names of the original Five Families.

Lol, she only mentions four. Lucchese, Gambino, Bonanno, Profaci (Colombo crime family), but misses out on the Genovese! lol

No wonder Tone got upset!

That's true. The reason she didn't mention the Genovese crime family was because Lucky Luciano was the boss of it!

Im rewatching Join the Club right now, when Tony is in the coma and gets shot.

When the FBI is interviewing Carmela, they mention Junior making pointed references to Sam Giancana and the Kennedy Assasination.

which is pretty weird because the Lupertazzi family was supposed to be the Gambino family.

I thought it was because Tony cut her out before she could finish but i've admittedly not seen that ep in a while.

it's been a while since i've seen it but i'm pretty sure she mentioned luciano at the table, which is the same as mentioning genovese as it later became the genovese family after frank costello retired and vito genovese took over.

i just wish that since she was mentioning the original heads of the five families she'd mentioned mangano and gagliano instead of gambino and lucchese, that would have impressed me

Paulie mentions luciano and he says "fags and A.A... (sigh)Salvatore Lucania is looking down on us" when they were talking about Vito being a fag and Chrissy then walked out of the room saying he was going to A.A

What I donĀ“t get: they referenced every original family. But what is about the Lupertazzi crime family? Did they replaced one of the original families or are the Lupertazzis a renamed columbo-family?

I guess not a true story but when Tony is playing golf with Dr Cusumano they mention John Gotti and how he outbid Tony for those trucks.

Also they reference the hit on Carmine Galante, "was a beautiful hit wasn't it".

Sorry Tone you must have knew him. "how old do you fucking think i am".

How fucking stupid are these guys in the video. You don't rob the guy you scare the guy. You leave him alone and you become his new partner. He buys what you steal. Then he sells it he is your fence and everyone makes money including him.

Chris also mentions John Gotti in "Legend of Tennessee Moltisanti" when they mention Brendan Filone on TV, because he thinks they are making him out to be a bigshot in the family, and don't even mention Chris.
