I don't know about a mob presence but I know across the river in Newport, KY they had a ton of gambling and liquor joints at one time. Wouldn't be surprised if they had a connection.
Cincy didn't have a family, but like Jenks said, lots of activity in Newport across the river. I believe that was mostly run by Moe Dalitz and other Cleveland Jews.
