By that I mean, can a made member of LCN make enough money to live without a real job? I tend to doubt it, especially nowadays but thought I would ask. Do the capos even make enough for a decent living nowadays without a legit job? Of course they probably all technically have a real job for tax purposes but I mean in terms of money they make.

I'm sure almost all capos make enough for a living. They would only have a legitimate job for the reason you said. For soldiers it varies from each one

Depends what family they are capos in.

I mean a capo in the Genovese family will only hold a job down for tax purposes where a capo in a place like Kansas City may have to hold a job down to pay the bills.

If you are going by many of the charts that are out there, you are a "soldier" if you ever were in the same room as a mobster!

I doubt the lines are anywhere as formal, or ever were, as we want to believe. If you were dealing with the mob they would likely use you for whatever task they wanted you to do and as soon as they had no more use for you, sayanora.

Nick Calabrese killed 14 people and didn't have a pot to p**s in.

Up until recently I'm sure the higher ups just rested easy because they don't need to compensate you well: They just need you to know that they'll kill you if you f**k with them, which everyone does.

I once asked Fosco how they could pay a guy like Calabrese, who had enough info to practically sink the whole organization, so pathetically little, and he said that's just the way it was, if they "took care" of everyone who did their dirty work, at least back in the day, they'd be broke.

The simple answer, (forgetting about w2s, kicking up, etc...), is yes. Get up, hustle hustle hustle hustle, go to bed. There are several ways to get complex and watever, but it overcomplicates the answer.
