1. ~MOBS OF WAR~ Chapter 1
We reveal who's who as the underworld players battle it out to fill the power void.
They were top dogs in the underworld.But in the 2012 alan ryan (RIRA) & eamon kelly (MOBSTER) found out noone was untouchable.
The pair were shot down close to their own homes,it blew open a void in ireland's organised crime network.
And gangland always fills a void the only way it knows how- with more brutal violence.
In death,eamon kelly and alan ryan lie within a few metres of eachother in fingal cemetery.
Gardai now fear the coming year will be every bit as bloody as the last 12 months which saw 16 more bodies carted off to gangland's boot hill.
The sunday world was watching in 2012 as irelands real love/hate played out on the streets of our cities,towns & villages.
Last january we eerily predicted who would be the main players in the violence and who needed to watch their backs.
Now irelands leading crime reporters reveal the bloody struggle that is about to be unleashed on our streets to fill the shoes of kelly & ryan.

1. ~PAYBACK TIME~ Chapter 3
This year is set to be a pivotal one in irish organised crime with The Real IRA & Dublins Biggest Drug Mobs set to fight it out for control of irelands gangland.
After a year of massive shocks and huge changes following the murders of some of ganglands most influentials players,never before has there been so much up for grabs.
With the prize of control of captials lucrative drugs trade at stake,there is little doubt that the next 12 months will see further bloodshed.
For years,a status quo existed where gangs dealt drugs,made lots of money and reluctantly handed a small percentage over to republican groups- be it the IRA,Real IRA (RIRA) or the continuity IRA CIRA),as a form of Protection.
The Rise of the dublin brigade of the RIRA over the last 3 years changed all that though.
Business was traditionally conducted in a cordial enough manner,as both criminals and dissidents realised they were involved in a long running game.
However,the emeragence of alan ryan as head of the RIRA in the captial changed the rules for good.
He refused to play nice with drug dealers and instead of taking a few hundred of $euros each month,he started demanding a few thousand.
Ryan would take a 40 per cent of the proceeds for himself and send the rest up to northern ireland to the leadership of the IRA.
If a criminal wouldnt pay,he was threatened,if he still refused to cough up,he was either beaten or had a finger chopped off,If that didnt convince him,then he was murdered.

2. ~VIOLENCE~
It wasnt just criminals,however that ryan went for.He also put the CIRA and former PROVOS out of business by issuing threats and generally terrorising them.
The amount of violence inflicted by ryan and his cronies caused huge unease among the gangs and his murder at the hands of a criminal from clontarf in dublin last fall,caused shock waves that will continue to be felt this year.
In the weeks following ryans murder,things went back to the way they've always been,his replacements were not feared by dublins biggest gangsters and they were told where to go when they demanded the same protection money the feared ryan had been paid.
When the northern command of the RIRA began to see the money dry up,they came down to dublin to restore order in the terror group and impose their own choice to replace ryan.
This led to a serious internal power struggle within the RIRA,but it is expected that the groups lurgan-based commander colin duffy will win the day and he is said to be preparing to take on dublins dealers in a bid to get them paying protection money once again.
His first salvo was ordering the murder of gangland godfather eamon kelly last month.
The 65-year old was an underworld patron and father figure who kept order in gangland,he refereed in disputes and generally stopped rows between rival mobs spilling out of control.
His murder was highly symbolic and sent out the message that the RIRA was still a major force to be reckoned with,gardai have received reports that duffys cohorts have been doing the rounds across the city demanding the same amount of protection money that ryan was paid weekly.
This is set to force the hand of criminals who,sources say,will not pay under any circumstances.
Its a negotiating stance they are going to have to back up with force.
Eamon kelly was hugely connected man and sat on the table of the so called "CRIME COUNCIL" with christy kinahan that ruled on disputes and sanctioned murders and other serious crime acts.
This means that there is a long queue of kelly loyalists who will be looking to protect themselves against the RIRA and make sure that they will not follow their godfather to an early grave.
Christy kinahan was kellys biggest ally.He controls a huge network of criminals across dublin and will be forefront of hostilities against the RIRA,so too will be "Dessie The Border Fox O'Hare" the feared pyschopath who carried kellys coffin and gave an emotional speech at his funeral.
The drug dealer who organised alan ryans murder has no choice but to take on the RIRA,there is a contract on his head and he will have to come out of shadows in 2013 to take on the dissidents.
Some gardai believe that the remergence of "Fat Freddie Thompson" before christmas was significant,it was known that he was in dublin to collect drug money on behalf of kinahan,but may have been putting plans in place on dealing with the RIRA head on.
Thompson himself was threated by ryan and is known to have deep hatred for the Real IRA,thinking that they can collect money from sets of criminals while associating with others,if the dublin gangs succeed in forcing colin duffy and his cronies back up north,they will have dealt the RIRA a fatal blow and ensured that the terror group will be forever left weakened.

3. ~HAVOC~
Never more will gangland figures have to pay figures the northern movement and worry that the next alan ryan will be wreaking havoc on their lives.
This will hinge on them actually uniting which will be difficult because of eamon kellys murder,he was the glue that held many gangs together and there is nobody obvious to step into his shoes and act like as a liaison between the different gangs and ensure they keep a united front.
So there is no doubt there is a motley crew of very serious criminals who would give the IRA a run for there money,All out war seems inevitable,the only question is,which side will strike first.
