Films that should have won an Oscar for Best Picture in my opinion are.

Raging Bull (1980)/Coal Miner's Daughter (Won)
Saving Private Ryan(1998)/Shakespeare in Love (Won)
Goodfellas (1990) / Dances with Wolves (Won)
Color Purple (1985)/ Out of Africa (Won)
2001 Space Odyssey (1968)/Oliver (Won)
Born on the Fourth of July (1989)/ Driving Miss Daisy (Won)
Ray (2004)/ Million Dollar Baby(Won)

Stalag 17 won but the ten commandments was the best picture by far in 1953

I agree saving private Ryan was the best movie that year in 98

But I disagree that goodfellas was better then dances with wolves

The Good The Bad and The Ugly wasn't even nominated, which is a tragedy in it's self..

I personally don't think Dances with wolves should've won even though i think Goodfellas is overrated.

It was actually Italian and made by Sergio Leone the director of Once upon a time in america. Also foreign films can be nominated or even win Amour (Austria) has been nominated this year and the last 2 winners were technically foreign The Artist (France) and The Kings Speech (UK).

I almost fully agree with you. I love Fargo, and just rewatched it two days ago on AMC, but The English Patient was epic and hands down amazing!

I agree that a beautiful Mind shouldn't have won...but i would have given it to The Two Towers. It was the best of the LOTR movies.
