Criminals Loyal To Godfather Kelly Vow To Attack Thugs Linked To Slain RIRA Leader.Criminals desperate to avenge the murder of gangland godfather eamon kelly have put a hit on members of a traveller family linked to real IRA members.
Three incidents in which shots were fired and a pipe bomb was thrown at a house in coolock,are part of a revenge campaign according to sunday world sources.
One man as lucky to escape with his life after being shot and wounded in a gangland assassination attempt.
The travellers had been part of a gang that extorted cash from members of there own community and also ran a lucrative illegal waste disposal operation.
~Terrorised~Since the murder of RIRA Boss Alan Ryan,the traveller gangsters have been left isolated and were snubbed by organisers of a memorial party for the slain RIRA boss.
"When ryan was killed they had no friends left in the RIRA,Ryan used them for cash and that had dried up." a source told the sunday world.Theres not too many places for them to go because they terrorised other travellers who want nothing to do with them now.
The prime target has been forced to flee his home after a pipe bomb was thrown at his house in north dublin.Other people associated with the violent gang have also been targeted by a coalition a drug dealing gangs in the citys northern suburbs.They demanded sums as high as $50,000 from travellers who were in business and also took valuable vehicles which were sold off.Members of a dissident republicican gang from limerick also took part in the campaign of intimidation against wealthy travellers.
~Reward~Now the tables have been turned on them after a senior gangster is said to have put a cash reward for killing members of the gang.The dubliner,who lives in county cavan,had been a close associate of murdered mobster kelly.Kellys death has seriously disrupted underworld business deals because of his role as a trusted broker between factions.The gang has also been targeted in a series of garda and customs raids aimed at breaking up their illegal waste disposal business.
The crackdown came after sunday world exposed last year in which tracts of public parkland had been covered with debris and rubbish dumped by the gang.Aerial photos show how the waste had professionally compacted and even piled up on the traveller housing units which residents had been forced to flee.The same gang are thought behind the attack on family members of bare knuckle boxer james quinn-mcdonagh.His own house was fire-bombed and later completely razed by the gang using earth moving equipment.
