A real shock and just sad. I was hoping it was a stupid internet hoax, but usually they involved a ski accident or something stupid along those lines. RIP

This really blows me away.

Honestly I never knew any of his work until "The Sorpanos". If I am not mistaken he had a role in Brad Pitt/Julia Roberts, "The Mexican." He'll always be Tony Soprano to me though. frown

I was always hopeful that they would make at least one more HBO 2 hour Soprano movie, but there is only one Tony Soprano, so I can't see that happening.

I couldn't get home fast enough to see if it was really true or not. I overheard it on a store radio, but there were no details. OMG, how awful! frown

For some reason, for me, some of the most fun I've had posting here on the BB was during The Sopranos days. Every Sunday night that thread was a fire. smile We ALL had fun posting. Partly because it was such a unique show, and as BBers, it was right up our alley, so to speak.

Aside from the fact that he was overweight, does anyone know if he had a history of heart problems?

This article - http://www.nypost.com/p/news/international/james_gandolfini_XKEsZRGTj0ADAuscnNhbXL says he had drug and alchohol problems after his divorce in 2002, i don't know if he had heart problems though.

He pretty much enjoyed his food. Sadly the only way he would have stopped was going to be from surviving a heart attack. Richard Castellano died the same way at age 55. When you have food and not knowing that your body slows down when you age just makes a ticking time bomb for your heart.

Thanks Camarel. I was always disappointed in the series finale leaving it up to the audience to make conclusions. I do take issue with this article:

His character died in the season finale — but the audience never actually sees the moment of his death.

Say what????? uhwhat I'm SURE we had this discussion on the series finale BUT I was the odd ball out. I never believed Tony Soprano died. Oh, he did but we didn't actually see it." Hu? LOL

Ok, that's another topic isn't it? BUT that was the fun part of this show. So much to discuss. I DO think it is one of the greatest, if not the greatest tv show ever. smile

I really doubt they would replace the role of Tony Soprano unless they want to pull a Godfather Part II and have somebody play as the younger Tony.

I always thought it was obvious with that "it all fades to black" line that Tony died. I think they should of shown the Members Only Jacket guy coming up behind Tony, pulling the gun and putting it at the back of his head and then faded out to black without hearing or seeing the actual gunshot.

Maybe thats just the way i would of liked to have seen it end, but i do think Chase had him dying.

I personally think he died too, but it's surprising that Chase hasn't said it yet since he has revealed what happened to the Russian and other things from the show.

The only way they could do that imo is if the story centers around Johnny.

I always liked those flashback seens with Johnny Soprano, a young Junior and Olivia. I liked when Olivia said she wanted to stick the fork in young Tony's eye. lol

Good to see you, Lovecraft!

Sheesh,... I'm still kinda beside myself. He was on my must-meet list. And it's kinda scary that he wasn't that much older than I am. ohwell Makes me think that it can happen to anyone, that poof! you're gone. frown

Proves once again that grudges and all other worldly B.S. is just that. Arguing is fine, not everyone can agree. But holding grudges for weeks, months, years, decades!, can really backfire.
