The Mafia and XXX Film industry during the 1970's in NYC.

A trench-foot soldier's story. Meet some of the most outrageous and deadly players during hard core prohibition. The toughest customers in the film business.

NEW YORK, Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A dangerous journey through the heady years of the 1970's when porn was profitable, illegal and a loadstone for gangsters and profiteers attracted by easy cash from 8 mm smut loops.

Probably one of the most influential sociological changes since the industrial revolution, the advent of hardcore sex films in public places, stripped away much of the quasi-moral vestiges of the ninetieth century Victorian era. It was a time when mores, morals and modesty changed inexorably. Porn was not the only sociological shift; it was happening in the arts, politics and society in general. Whether pornography was a catlist or a by-product of this change is difficult to cleave, but for certain it played a big part in challenges for first amendment rights.

Literally at fox hole, basement level, I witness the paradigm shift from titillation to penetration in motion pictures. I paralleled the legal adjustments, while making films, and watched as the public demanded the ability to watch what they wanted. It was an important slice of American culture witnessing implications of the past and the impact to the future.

To think that the mob doesn't have its hands in every strip club is just naive, there's just too much money in their for them to not try and get a piece of something. Look at what happened in Mass and Rhode Island over the past few years.

Plus, I don't belive for a minute that others like Alex's in Stoughton and the clubs on the north shore have not been shaken down, fronts for made guys or made tribute payments for one minute...

Yea very lucrative biz to be in...forgot the recent RI story...would be curious as to which family has control over the more "high end" places such as Larry Flints and such...cash coming in hand over fist sure would be easy to not report quite a large sum

Heck, why do you think the first thing Vinny Ocean did was buy a strip club when he got out of jail, lol....

Just 'owning" the door at $10-15 a head is a fortune.

I'm actaully surprised the mob didn't get in on the early day of on-line porn, legit business that makes tons of money. would seem to be right up their alley, better than on-line gambeling in my opinion.

They did! Look up Salvatore LoCasio! He did sex phone lines, Internet porn sites! Etc. Now he lives in a Castle in Naples, Florida. Was smart, made his money, did his time and got out went straight to Florida and hasn't looked back!

yeah, I knew of him, but that's one guy and in the end he had to steal and ruin a good thing too.

I remember when that story broke...hard to belive he's 100% retired, if he is, good luck to him.

The stealing or "crimping" as it was called was the whole point! Wasn't to satisfy anyone and there porn fantasies! It was to get there card information and to steal. Tons of guys did that! Tons!

Exactly. It wasn't a matter of one guy getting greedy. It was all the guys involved in the case - Locascio, Martino, Mustafa, Campos, etc. Even if they were mob run internet sites and sex lines, the phony "free trials" and extra costs were the point of the scam from the very beginning.

Wiggles, that was Vinny Ocean's place. Cnbc did a decent story on it, said it was Vinny's cash cow until the big nyc crackdown.

Does Palermo still run that strip club down in Texas? Seemed like he wasn't too worried about things after he flipped.
