Many questions and few answers...With Vito's being away and the son and father being taken out someone was looking to fill power void that was being created...Salvatore "Sal the Iron Worker" Montagna must have played some role...he must have been pretty pissed getting tossed from the US and was looking for a new home

I don't think right now there is anyone in charge of Canada... I think since Vito's incarceration, and his subsequent return, they all are trying to figure that out...

Would love to go to Canada. Go to Vito Rizzuto's club in Montreal and splash the money! Hope he'll become impressed and hire me as an enforcer. lol

Can't believe Salvatore Montagna was born in Montreal and raised in Sicily & The Bronx and later came back to Montreal for a short period of time, and left Montreal to New York.

The current theory is that Raynald Desjardins, Vittorio Mirarchi, Salvatore Montagna, Domenico Arcuri, and Joe Di Maulo formed all conspired as a somewhat democratic group to overthrew the Rizzutos. Nick Sr and Jr hadn't been spreading the wealth around, and the Arcuris had always been sorta marginalized. Montagna wanted to take over and stirred up as much sentiment as he could. Desjardins was close to Vito but ever since Francesco Arcadi ordered the death of one of his best friends, he held a grudge and really didn't give a shit. Montagna warns Nick to step down, Nick tells him to fuck off, and the killings happen.

Arcuri had always backed Montagna and Mirarchi and Di Maulo had always backed Desjardins. They started disagreeing over leadership of the entity that would usurp the Rizzutos. Sal shot first at one of Desjardin's guys. In the end most the soldiers on both sides got knocked down, a notable survivor being Tony Suzuki who worked for Montagna. In the end we all know what happened. Montagna was killed, but Raynald got life in prison.

I had read the Hells Angels and the Rizzutos were always very tight, basically they were street distribution for the Rizzutos.

That's an interesting theory and it definitely makes sense form a logical stand point. My one question is that did they totally underestimate Vito's resolve or what Vito would do when he got out of prison?

They probably thought he was a defeated old man with his dad and son gone. I wonder if the Bonanno family is helping him, they owe him a solid after the time he did...

I guess they are glad he didn't flip and rat like the rest of the Bonanno's. He participated in the 3 Capo hit - they owe him for that. Big Joe Massino and Sal Vitale ratted him out, and don't forget, when he got sentenced he admitted to being a Bonanno "member" in open court. If my memory is correct, Vito was going to serve more time if he did not make the admission in court.

It's like some power trip now to make these guys admit the LCN connection...Some of the Boston guys recently sentenced had to do the same thing and had a few years shaved as a result..

I don't know about a power trip as much as it will help with future RICO cases. By getting an admission to being a member of a crime family, the Feds can demonstrate an ongoing criminal organization in current and future cases.
