But I think the dialogue actually is probably transcribed from real phone taps. I´m sure the dialogue comes from real taps. But the voices you hear in the doc comes from actors, and not very good ones. The FBI recorded thousands of hours of the Outfit on wires and taps back then... why it didn't result in more convictions, quicker, I don't know.
I think many of the bugs were ruled as illegal.

For sure the dialogue is transcribed from real phone taps."why you would keep having your meetings at a certain place if you knew it was bugged would seem to be crazy." Its very good for the mob to know if the room is bugged so they can lead the fbi in wrong direction...ya know what im sayin?! True... although this would be a weekly, elaborate, multi-year ruse. But I think what Knuckles says makes sense, and actually I seem to remember something about that from the book now that he mentions it. In particular I think Russo said that Murray Humphries knew their weekly meeting place behind this tailor shop downtown was bugged, but he did probably not know his phone was bugged. Later he moved into a building here called Marina City for the specific purpose of making sure it couldn't be bugged; he built it like a fortress--but they still got a bug in there. And the Armory Lounge which was Giancana's base was also famously bugged. Among many other places.

In thouse times Chicago was diferent than NY cuz there was sort of a ..how should i say..respect between the fbi and the outfit, and thats why the outfit had so much power in the government system for so long,so it makes perfect sence that some of em for example M.Humphries knew bout their place been bugged.Im not sure but i think that the fbi found some boxes with the cia logo on em at Giancana's place with some anti-surveillance equipment

Agreed!
That makes sense. While this makes sense to explain the reason there were no convictions, the law that didn't allow those wiretaps to be used doesn't make sense at all. I am sure there were more than enough reasons to plant bugs without a warrant. Had they asked for the warrant, there was a high possibility the judge would leak the information to the mob. I am not really justifying the breaking of law in majority of the cases, but situations as these are really shameful. Like in Patriarca's case: if I am not mistaken, he said enough on the tapes to fry on the chair 10 times, but the tapes were ruled as illegal, so he went free (well, maybe not immediately free, but doing 4 or 5 years is clearly not enough).
Willie Marfeo to Henry Tameleo:
1) "You people want a loaf of bread and you throw the crumbs back. Well, fuck you. I ain't closing down."
2) "Get out of here, old man. Go tell Raymond to go shit in his hat. We're not giving you anything."
