I've heard somewhere that in all those 19 murders, he personally killed only Joe Colucci. I have the book Underboss, but I don't remember If he personally killed someone else?

Joe. What is the chance of Sammy only killing one person, He became one of John Gotti's best right hand man and before he met Gotti he worked for some crazy people in the Colombo family. All his years in Organized Crime, you think he killed one person? Haha.

You don't have to kill personally in order to become a made member. You just have to be a part of the hit, whether that be shooting the guy, cleaning up, or driving the getaway car. It's said that Gotti never pulled the trigger, so I don't find it unlikely that a guy like Gravano pulled the trigger only once.

Gotti personally killed vito borrelli according to massino and i wouldnt be surprised if he killed others given his temper and we will never know cause there are no informants from that era who have that knowledge that have turned besides massino.

@ LCN1987 - I'm not talking about becoming a made-man and killing someone I was talking about Sammy Gravano's whole career in crime. He has said that he only killed one person because I bet he doesn't want to go to court and get his balls busted over again, His heart must of been pounding when he testified against John G so I doubt he would want to go through all that again. I disagree that he only killed one person while working in the Colombo family for a crazy crew, and in John Gotti's crazy faction. John trusted Sammy and Jackie D'Amico so I bet they both did a few murders for the Dapper Don.

Fair enough, but pure speculation on your part. Gravano said he killed one, we should go by that number and not speculate whether he "did this or that". I'm just saying that it's possible to never kill and individual and having Gravano's mob stature.

Gravano would have had nothing to lose by admitting to pulling the trigger more than once. He could have admitted to taking part in the Son of Sam murders and they still would have given him his deal. That's how bad they wanted Gotti.

Yeah, I understand. I don't know exactly how much he did kill but I know for a fact he killed more than one. John trusted Sammy so much so I bet he appointed him as a killer for some, maybe 4 or 5 killings but facing that number he wouldn't be seeing any light. I think he only says that he killed one person to get away from court. Joe Colucci was a soldier so I think in the Colombo family and yet Sammy spent 21 years in organised crime so I doubt very much he only whacked one person. Sammy was a high ranking member and a very trusted member along the Five Families so I guess he did several whackings for other bosses too.

Speaking of old guys, anybody know who is currently the oldest LCN member out on the street/active?

I can only think of Sonny Franzese as the oldest, When he gets out (if he ever does) he'll be back on the street.

Good question, Dap.

Benny Eggs is in his 90s, but I have it on very good authority that he's most certainly retired. As was Matty when he passed away a few months ago.

The common myth is that these guys never get tired of the life, but that's bullshit. A lot of them get put out to pasture by the younger guys, and a lot of them pack it in on their own.

What about Larry Dentico do you know if he's retired yet? He must be close to 90 now.

If he gets out it'll be a month before his 100th birthday and i seriously doubt he'll return to crime at that age.

It isn't like he is a Hijacker. He is pretty fit so says Mike and doesn't smoke or drink unless a party or wedding, something like that. He'll sit back and let the money come to him, He is an important guy and his respect and reputation and will get him money.

That's not a fact, that's what you believe. I'm sticking to him killing 1. Atleast that's what he said, and not what I think.

Well, I know for sure he has killed more than 1. He was with the Colombos and John Gotti. I doubt very much he was left out of the murder.

Thanks for the great insight. Your absolutely right about some of the old guys being put out to pasture by the younger guys, reminds me of George Barone from the Genovese thats why he flipped. Some younger guys pushed him aside and took over his rackets among other things.

ive heard that as well. it is a common thing among the 'westside'. benny eggs hasnt had to be 'on the street' since johnny d got hit.guys like him, quiet dom, matty, punchy, tough tony, all got guys out front doing all the work. while they enjoy there tans in fla or at the shore. guys like that do nothing but dictate common policy.nothing incriminating.

Barney?

Four reasons.

1) He's young by comparison.

2) He was close to Vince Gigante

3) The Feds never wanted to give him that deal in '96. They were hoping he'd take it to trial and get beat. Even with the twelve years that he was inside, they knew he'd come out in the prime of his life.

4) The Feds redux. They're still smarting over giving him a year for fucking mail fraud when they thought they had him dead to rights on a murder rap. A murder rap that he was innocent of, by the way. The star witness there, Pete Peluso, is as big a lowlife as God ever made. What did that piece of shit accomplish besides getting a 75 year old barber indicted and scaring him half to death?

And just for the record, Barney would have eaten his own arm before turning on Ralphie. They were that close.
