Be careful with working varied shifts over time as it disrupts the brain's circadian rhythm and contributes to depression, cardiovascular disease, headaches and joint pain, and disfunction of bodily organs.

Other than that, have a pleasant day.

Nobody works worst shifts than I do. I work rotating around the clock shifts that change every 4 days. I go from getting up at 4 am, to getting home at 6 am, all in the same week. I also works shifts in between, and sometimes work 17 hours straight. I get one weekend off every 7 weeks. The only reason I do it is because they pay me an ungodly amount of money, and it isn't hard work. I sit in an office and babysit my employees, who ironically work Mon -Fri steady shifts.

My husband worked the night shift for a number of years when the girls were small. It was really hard for them. How do you keep kids quiet in the middle of the day because Daddy's sleeping. It took a toll on him, for sure. We were glad when his company did away with it.

On the other hand, his best friend worked nights for over 20 years. Shortly after he retired from the police force, my daughter ran into him and his wife at a local restaurant. She sent me a text from the restaurant which said, "And Uncle Rick doesn't look mostly dead any more!"

My hub does swing shifts. One week he'll work 7-3 then when that week is done he has 2 1/2 days off. Then it's 3-11 which he hates. Does that gets 1 day off then he does the 11-7 does that for 6 days then he has fri-mon off then starts over. He hates having one weekend off a month.

Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife?
Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.

After a couple of pints, eh Yogi? wink
I worked 11 p.m. - 7 a.m. for almost 5 years when my kids were 10 & 3 years old. From 1995 - 2000. Very difficult. I tried every possible sleep times and rotations but nothing ever really worked well. The saddest part for me was going to one of the kids events in the evening and looking/feeling like a zombie. I don't even remember some of the stuff to this day.

I have a set 17 week rota, 8 weeks of nights which are 9pm to 7am. 6 weeks of earlies which are 6am till 2pm and 3 weeks of lates which are 1pm till 9pm. Out of the 17 weeks i work 13 week-ends and when you throw over-time in there as well its all a bit topsy turvy. Of course i only do it because it pays more and i do get time off during the week which can be nice cool

I've been lucky. smile Throughout my work career I've only worked Mon-Fri 8-5 (or so) jobs. However years ago, I worked days and my husband worked nights. Seemed we only really saw each other on weekends. I can't imagine having to work nights, let alone on weekends but a lot of people do.

Almost. wink ...I'm just hoping I live long enough to enjoy my pension and retirement. Another 3-8 years depending when I go.
