Genovese's and Lucchese's are the most active within the Bronx.

Barney is probably functioning on a ruling panel. The 116th Street crew doesn't really exist any more.

Angelo Prisco is doing life in Florida.

Louie Ricco is pretty much retired.

Tore LoCasio is living in Naples, Florida, pretty much full time.

The Bronx Bonannos (who never really had a strong presence here to begin with, save for Vinny Basciano's high profile a few years ago) have more problems than you can list. They're getting to the point to where they're almost non-existent in the Bronx.

Richie Fusco has a lot of friends in the other families in the Bronx, but the Colombos never got a foothold here.

But I've only lived here in the Bronx for 53 years, so what do I know? lol

Im assuming Bronx crews still exist in within the Genovese Family (Dom, Parello, Joe D) and are there replacements for Louie Ricco and Tore LoCasio? I thought Tore was still active, he's quite young (53 is nowhere near retiring age in the mob)

Tore is worth millions. Legit. So why bother?

Sure, he still has his stripes, and he technically still has his Bronx crew. But trust me on this, he loves it down there in Florida. And no, he doesn't head up a crew down there.

Probably. And even out there, it's not what it was even ten years ago, let alone in the glory days.

All of the five families have some sort of precense in Brooklyn. I'd say the Gambino's is the strongest because both Frankie and Dom operate out of there.

Very informative Pizzaboy that's exactly the kind of info I was looking for with this post im looking to be corected so I can expand my knowledge as to the Bronx bonnanos they seem to have had a lot of high profile members post Massino I find it hard to believe Basciano an Defillipo went down and their entire crews went dormant

They didn't, but I think they were swallowed up by the Queens and Long Island crews. Vinny's gone. Patty's gone. Johnnie Joe's gone. Sal Montagna's dead. I live in Throggs Neck, where the Bonanno guys were based, and they just aren't here anymore

And the Bonanno's were never that big to begin with here, even during their glory years (Bonanno, Galante, Rastelli, et al.). They just never had a big presence here. It has always been Genovese and Lucchese territory here in the Bronx. Always.

A high profile Gambino crew under Greg DePalma got some headlines during the '80s and '90s, and Vinny's high profile put the Bonannos in the news. But at the end of the day, the power here is where it's always been: Genovese #1, Lucchese #2.

With Barney and Steven Crea based out of there, you have to figure that no one else gets much action. Except maybe the Gambino's but even that's small.

Tore got rich in of the the biggest tech scams in American history. Phone cramming and porn sites. Just Google it and you'll get a thousand hits.

As far as Joe from the Bronx Gambino, I don't know who you mean. Do you mean a Gambino soldier from the Bronx named Joe? Or are you actually asking about the soldier/capo named Joe Gambino?

I realize that English isn't your first language, so if you can clarify maybe I can give you a better answer.

how much you think he kicked up to peter gotti, how much you think peter held out from victaory gotti. I like Michael fransese story how when he got caught for the gas tax scam he was in federal lock up with his boss carmine persico and he would ask him about all the money. 4yrs later snake put a hit out on him and stripd his dad.

I never said that wink.

Between the seizure and what he had to spread around, it's nowhere near what was reported. But it's still enough to make him one of the wealthiest wiseguys EVER.

And what's more impressive is that he was able to pretty much talk himself into semi-retirement at a fairly young age. Good for him. Because he ain't a bad guy, as far as those guys go smile.

$650M PORN SCAM Gambino thugs plead guilty to X-rated ring

BY John Marzulli /

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS /

Tuesday, February 15, 2005, 12:00 AM

A HALF-DOZEN GAMBINO mobsters copped pleas yesterday to the biggest consumer fraud in U.S. history.Preying on hapless porn Web site users and phone sex customers in a huge $650 million scam. The last-minute deals headed off a trial into the ingenious and insidious scheme masterminded by Richard Martino -a John Gotti favorite believed to be the biggest earner in the infamous crime family's history.

Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Roslynn Mauskopf said thousands of customers in the U.S., Europe and Asia were victimized by the vast operation - which pelted dupes with bogus credit card and phone bill charges - between 1996 and 2002. The guilty pleas, Mauskopf said, will ensure the defendants "will serve significant time in prison, but they also will forfeit the spoils of their crimes, including luxury homes and other significant assets, which will be used to compensate the victims.

" Martino and a business partner, Norman Chanes, devised the Internet and so-called "phone cramming" scams, which grossed sums that dwarfed the mob's traditional bread-and-butter rackets like gambling and loansharking. Operating behind a maze of 64 companies, they lured suckers to X-rated Web sites promising "free tours" of the lurid content. The viewers were required to give their credit or debit card numbers as proof of age. Then the unwitting victims were hit with charges of up to $90 on their card. The phone scam did not even require conning the consumer out of their card number. Martino and Chanes solicited dupes to call an 800 number for "free" samples of phone sex, horoscopes and phone dating. Merely dialing the 800 number "trapped" the callers' phone numbers in a computer - and they got billed at least $40 a month for unwanted voice mail service. Martino was held in such high regard by the late Gotti, he was excused from showing up regularly at the boss' Ravenite social club - a move aimed at keeping the top moneymaker hidden from law enforcement surveillance. The lucrative operation was supervised by reputed Gambino capo Salvatore (Tore) LoCascio, who presided from his Naples, Fla., home. Just before LoCascio entered his plea yesterday, the FBI arranged an extraordinary cell phone call to his ailing father, former underboss Frank LoCascio, who is serving a life sentence in federal prison. "He wanted his father's approval and to consult with him about the plea," said LoCascio's lawyer Maurice Sercarz. Chanes pleaded guilty last year and was ready to testify against Martino and the others. Under the deal struck yesterday, just hours before jury selection, Martino will serve 10 years and forfeit $15 million. LoCascio will get seven years and have to pony up $4.7 million. Gambino associate Zef Mustafa will get five years and forfeit $1.7 million. Gambino soldier Andrew Campos and associate Thomas Pugliese face two years and $300,000 in restitution. Family associate Daniel Martino, Richard's older brother, will serve five years and pay $1.5 million. While prosecutors were trumpeting the pleas, defense lawyers privately claimed victory because the government agreed to drop racketeering charges.

HOW THEY DID IT: THE X-RATED "FREE TOUR" Porn peddlers Norman Chanes and Bruce Chew join forces with Gambino soldier Richard Martino to operate adult entertainment Web sites featuring content from smut magazines Playgirl and High Society, among others. X-rated Web sites linked to the magazines advertise free tours, but demand credit or debit card number as proof of age. The ad promises the card would not be billed. Once the viewer entered the Web site, there was no getting out. The defendants disabled the "go back" icon and there was no "home" or "exit," either. The dupe gets billed $59.99 to $90 per month. Thousands of consumers are ripped off in the U.S., Europe and Asia for an estimated total of more than $650 million.

Cheech,

LoCascio was investigated but not charged for involvement in a gambling operation in Southwest Florida in 2012, I'm trying to locate the article in the Fort Myers newspaper.
