Do most crews in the Italian-American mafia deal drugs to some extent, or are there some who are strictly against it? Also hows the truck hijacking business for the mob these days?

Tony Soprano : I thought I told you to back off Beansie!

Richie Aprile : I did, Then I put it in drive..

I think its more done by the soldiers on a more individual basis. Theres probably small groups in every crew that deal drugs or engage in large one off drug deals to make a quick buck every now and then. The only case that has involved large scale drug trafficking over a long period of time was the gambinos in the queens area. I think in places like staten island, certain parts of queens and brooklyn your gonna find mob connected drug rings.

Ever hear of Lojack? lol

But seriously, they've been out of that game for some time now.

Dont get me worng but this aint the 40's or 50's,even back then they used to deal drugs, but today almost every criminal(big or small)organization is in the drug business. Its like regular stuff. As for the truck hijacking i dont belive its dead cuz theres a lot of hijacking on trucks(not the whole truck, only the stuff in it)with medical stuff, expensive medications and in some countries theres a lot of hijacking on bank trucks, hidden cars or vans(civilian) from the bank carrying money, mobsters usualy take inside information from some1 who works at the bank.Maybe in the U.S. the level of truck hijacking is on the lowest level

Totally, hijacking is not gone by a longshot and still offers a way to make money. If you steal something for nothing, and sell it for something, that's profit baby!!!

In Greater New York City (namely JFK, Newark and LaGuardia), hijacking is a thing of the past.

How do you get around Lojack?

Name me one MAJOR hijacking in the last ten years.

I would like to know this as well.

Tommy Shots: They want me running the family, don't they know I have a young wife?
Sal Vitale: (laughs) Tommy, jump in, the water's fine.

That hardly qualifies as a major truck hijacking.

You have to remember, these guys used to rob the airports every day. It's nothing like that anymore. That's all I'm saying.

Of course there will be isolated incidents, but the United States ain't Europe. Getting away with hijacking trucks is just too difficult to count on over here.

And re your example. There's not an Italian American named in the indictment:

The men, named in court papers as Greenwald, Hector Rivera, Roni Amrussi, Roman Zadiriyev, Arkadiy Israilov, Hector Mathews, Mario Torres, Jose Amezquita-Castillo (aka "Quique"), Jose Torres-Rivera, Eduardo Cartagena-Delgado, Carlos Quiles and Luis Ramirez-Mirabel.

My apologies,i forgot to mention that it was not the italians.Strange thing is that several million dollars worth of diamonds were stolen and youre sayin that aint so big?!I mean i know back in the 60's things used to be diferent but todays truck hijacking is on the lowest level so i think that this case can be considered as MAJOR
