Everyone is famliar with them through the Sopranos, and they wouldn't have to have the movie based on the Sopranos to make it successful. Easy money as far as I am concerned.

The only two people holding back from making a Sopranos film is of course David Chase who would write the script and James Gandolfini who i can't imagine wanting to play Tony in the near future.. I know that would be the best scenario, but Chase and Gandolfini don't want to do a Sopranos movie, so why not just have another producer make a movie that is based on another story of a real life mobster with some of the actors from the Sopranos in it? That's why James Gandolfini knew people were going to type cast him as Tony for the rest of his career and he wouldn't able to do pull it off with different roles but just stuck as Tony. Like, I watched the movie where he's playing the Mayor character with Denzel Washington and John Travolta. I can't help it but I look at him as Tony. He did a great job for playing Tony but he's not a good actor as Edie Falco because she can play any different roles like she did in OZ and Nurse Jackie shows characters. I remember I read the Boardwalk Empire interview when the real Nucky look like James Gandolfini, and 6ft tall. They said they have thought about to get James to play Nucky role but they didn't want to becauae they don't want bring "Tony Sopranos" in Boardwalk Empire.
