Supposedly the "spiritual successor" to Gangsters: Organized crime. Developed by the crew that brought us the Tropico series.

Anyway, dunno if you guys have heard of this title. But it's set int he Roaring 20s in Atlantic City, and of course you play a criminal whom rises through the ranks to become a crime boss in which you strategically command your immoral empire.

Looks awesome! Been waiting for a game like this to come out, more
of a strategy than a FPS. Can't wait!

I thought for a sec this game was a joke. But it looks nice and the concept seems pretty ingenious. Going to give this a try.

Was it the title? All cliche like?

Honestly, I've been looking forward to this game for a while now. I really can't wait. And Boardwalk Empire will be running in tandem by the time this is released. Oh the Roaring 20s joy!

My very first impression, until watching the trailer and reading the info. The downside is that the gameplay is only 15 or so hours. I'm not an avid gamer, but when I do play a game like this I like to enjoy it for a considerable amount of time.

Yeah that's true. Altho it doesn't seem like an very linear game.
So likely one play-through is 15 hours. And with a game like this, it will likely be very dynamic with a fair-share of replay value and different approaches. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

That's a real shame. Obviously, I was really looking forwards to this release. Promptly, anyways.

@Mukremin - It's hard to say really. Bunch of different reasons. Polish. Bugs. Fiscal Year/financial positioning.

And the most bullshit excuse is Launch Date positioning. SO it doesn't interfere with any "big releases". Which I think is why they delayed it. To avoid the whole Christmas Blockbuster interference of the major releases coming out around then.

Ended up playing it- it is more like SimCity or Tropico with a gangster-skin than a real organized crime game. You just build building and play with a group of set characters. Pretty boring.

It could have been great with a better combat system (hits), a diplomacy system of dealing with other families, rebel capos or other ethnic gangs, the ability to recruit and create a borga's hierarchy (being careful who gets made, who might be a rat, how to conceal your hierarchy, who makes good decisions and who is a dangerous psycho that could bring heat, etc) and have a dynamic system of law enforcement heat (and reaction to it- like dealing with rats, using political connections, dealing with trials of underlings, dealing with the media). The current game has no real decisions, dynamic events or alternative methods of achieving victory. Maybe too much to ask- but it would be so great to have a real strategy game dealing with organized crime, especially in the 60-90s. Maybe be able to achieve victory or defeat in a ton of different styles- either as a lunatic like Casso/Scarfo/DeMeo or try to be a peaceful don like Bruno or extremely secretive like the Chin or really old school, blue collar like Neil Dellacroce.

Crusader Kings II is a good model. Does a great sim of medieval politics (which are actually pretty similar to the violent dynamic of organized crime).

Should probably ask Mr. Kierney. I guess if you're Italian, you should be in prison.
I've read the RICO Act, and I can tell you it's more appropriate...
for some of those guys over in Washington than it is for me or any of my fellas here

Yeah I was so looking forward to this game. It was ultimately very disappointing. SO much more could have been done with the concept. CKII is one of my favourite games of all time. The gameplay you describe above is a huge step above what Omerta turned out to be based on concept alone.

Yeah org. crime. Mores LCN is very fuedal in nature. I think a hybrid between Crusader Kings II and Gansters: Organized Crime would be a total win

Hi, It's really nice to see that you all have same taste and I personally think that the gaming is better to watching the tv for the children and youngsters too. it's also a very nice tool for the mind exercise.
