I saw the post ''worst decision to whack a guy'', and I decided to open this post to know which made man would have merited to die and did not die, or what was the best hit ever made, I know that at the end of 90s , want to kill Junior Gotti, for example.

greg scarpa - the rat, but one scary - scary - very frightening rat, nobody dared fuck with this dude - if they knew he was an informant they would have had him killed anyways...

John Gotti - Killing a boss, heavy in dope, too high profile -

Definetly Gotti i mean he destroyed a whole family. Gotti was very lucky to wiggle out of trouble. I think if roy demeo was still alive in late 83/84 he would have taken out gotti/angelo on Big paul's order. Roy dies in January 83 and Paul found out about gotti's crew dealing drugs in August 1983 so he lucked out in that regard

You're probably right but by that time Roy could have possibly been jailed/flipped.

funny to think that Gotti would never have tried a move on Big Paul with Roy and them on the loose..but Paul orders Roy killed - Ironic

Also Decicco joining him was big. If decicco wanted to be the boss then gotti would have probably been gone or broken down into a soldier since sammy was closer to frank anyway

Bruno should have clipped Scarfo when he insulted Rugnetta's niece that would have saved the Philly mob a world of trouble.

Scarfo had a guardian angel in that situation, Nicky Buck. Even if he didn't whack out Scarfo, that was just his way. Bruno was close with Mr Joe Rugnetta, who was much more prone to violence actually Rugnetta was the one guy in Bruno's admin who actually was closer to him than the new school guys. Caponigro was only named because he was a growing power and I heard once that Phil Testa went behind his back on hits. Yet after the old school like Joe Rugnetta died off, Bruno felt he had to name guys like this to appease the new school. Bruno once had a guy named Reds Caruso killed by Scarfo and Merlino because he slapped Mr Joe. They ended up shooting him, but Bruno had insisted that he specifically be choked. To me this shows some anger on Bruno's part that he would have that kind of hand in the slaying.

Anyway. My answer is Vito Genovese any time before Apalachin. The mob would have been on less shaky ground if he had never come back from Sicily.

Yeh Genovese was an idiot he was a good enforcer but had no brains to be the boss. They were way better with Costello as boss he new what the LCN is all about.

Yep. You can bag on Gravano for ratting. But Gotti running his mouth for hours on end, holding weekly meetings in front of FBI cameras, etc. did just as much damage as anything Gravano said in court or FBI debriefings.

I agree because Gravano was loyal to Gotti. DeCicco and Gravano should have taken out Gotti right after Castelanno.

Al Capone and the Chicago Outfit. Johnny Torrio, head of the Chicago Outfit at the time, acknowledged the financial promise and ambition of a young Al Capone. Instead of sanctioning a hit on Capone, Torrio made him an offer: a partnership. The two had many profitable years together before Torrio retired in Italy and turned over his rackets to Capone.

How can you guys be so sure these mobsters haven't killed anyone?? Just because its not in a book or any other document, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Why him? It would have saved a lot of lives, but in my opinion the only lasting damage that Capone caused was his successors (Ricca and 7 other men) had to keep their heads down for a decade, but with minimal consequences. Also, the Outfit was well off in terms because of Capone's recruitment.

I doubt it i heard it was Weiss,Moran and Aiello who ordered it.

After Torrio retired Al had 2 of them killed and was at war

with Moran until he was imprisoned.

One possible worst decision to NOT whack a guy was gravano/decicco not killing gotti like they talked about (supposedly). Would've saved the gambinos probably, and who knows if gravano would have ended up the biggest rat in history?
