this thread is for good beers only so leave your bud/coors somewhere else and enjoy something good! ive been on an ipa kick recently and some of the better ones ive tried have been sierra nevada torpedo, founders centennial, and probably my new favorite, uinta hopnotch ipa. the uinta is made somewhere in utah and at $11 a 6pack is kinda expensive but you get what you pay for. i encourage everyone out there to try something new next time you hit up the liquor store, theres a world of possibilities out there, as america gets a bad rap when it comes to beer because of the cheap mass produced lagers but i think we have the best beer and biggest variety in the world. share some of your favorites.

My daughter's boyfriend just got a job as a waiter at a new restaurant that has 100+ beers on tap. During his training, he gets to sample a few each night.

Last Saturday, I attended a book signing in Brooklyn at the Coney Island Museum, and since I got there a little early I had - what else? - a bottle of Coney Island Lager while I waited. Interesting label design, based on the old "Tillie" face that adorned the entrance to Coney Island's long-gone Steeplechase Park.

The beer had a good flavor, but was really nothing to make me tear off all my clothes and run naked down Surf Ave. (few things are, these days) Still, I've had worse. A lot worse.

The thing that bothers me about this beer is the realization that it ain't even brewed in Brooklyn! Not even close! It's brewed by (now, get this) the Shmaltz Brewing Company (a California-based company) in Saratoga Springs. That's right - Saratoga Springs. They actually do have a brewery in Brooklyn, but it is so "micro" that their batches only amount to around a gallon a day. So, any "mass production" is contracted out to other, larger breweries.

Other than that, the beer wasn't half-bad.

"Sure I cook with wine - sometimes I even add it to the food!"

"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?"

"It was a grass harp... And we listened."

"Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?"

"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."

We get plenty of good craft beers and ales in this part of Arizona. Many on tap, brewed locally. Among the bottled ones, I like Botswain's varied IPA's and ales, Pyramid Apricot Ale, Deschutes Porter, and a whole variety of beers and ales brought in under Trader Joe's label, especially their Plsnr (that's how it's spelled, made like a Pilsener).

Looks good,

You think I might be able to find this on tap somewhere?

had some double dog last night. pretty good, although a little bit sweet but at 11.5% abv you quickly forget about any minor negatives. i drank this one in a brandy snifter and it really opened up as it warmed. i give it a 7.5/10.it was $14 for the 6pack which isnt too bad when you consider the alcohol content. here's a review of it...

i had a langunitas cappuccino stout last night. $5 plus tax for the 22oz bottle. very good, 8/10, similar to a chocolate milkshake. here's the review...

Anyone ever try Dogfish Head Craft brews out of Delaware? I've been meaning to try some for some time but never have. They have this one brew called 120 Minute IPA that used to have a ABV of 25% or higher. But i just read on their site they dialed it back to 15 to 20%. They only brew the stuff a few times a year. They have a few different less potent brews that are supposed to be pretty good. Anyone ever try any?

dogfish head makes great beer, but they are generally very expensive. some of my favorites are thier 90 minute ipa, american brown ale, and the palo santo marron.

picked up some more of the weyerbacher imperial pumpkin ale today. not really the best summer beer, but i don't care as i love it so much. also i gotta enjoy it while i can as its seasonal and usually gone by late october. at $10/4pack its kinda pricey so i had to limit myself to only 2 . at 8% abv it should be plenty as i dont have to work tomorrow so

I like the Dogfish Head 60 Minute Ale but, as was said, it's expensive. My new fave is Botswain's Twin Screw Ale (8.4% ABV), $1.99 for 22 oz.

I have been restraining myself from going to the bar for a quick drink (always turns to a few drinks) after I get out of the office during the week. I dont want to make it a habit but I reading this thread the bar is calling my name. Tomorrow is Wednesday (hump day) so I will grab a bite and try something new on tap.
