With the crew bosses, was there a struggle/competition between the crews? I know that each crew usually stayed to there geographic area, but was there ever hatred or competition between them? Would the strongest crew or most profitable have an advantage? Were they ever in a direct competition with each other for something?

Also, did the crew bosses ever meet together? Or were they very isolated amongst there own crew? Would two crew bosses meeting be seen as a sign of a possible coup?

Then within the crews, would the boss and the #2 of each crew operate together? Or were they separate and the #2 was just a position? Was the #2 a trusted confidant or just a position of power?

Thanks in advance, just working on some stuff and wanted to get the small details correct.

The Outfit was always a rather disciplined and tight family. At least following the crazy Prohibition days. Guys were certainly killed but it was on order of their superiors. I may be overlooking some stuff off the top of my head but there really wasn't any major infighting, let alone conflicts between crews. Of course, that doesn't include power struggles within a crew itself. Recent cases, such as Tony the Hatch and Tony Zizzo, have been evidence of that.

Yeah, it always seems very rare. There was the Giancana hit, but that seemed to be the rarity.

Another question, the meeting that took place in the Last Supper photo, was that a very rare meeting or something that happened yearly?

While meetings have to take place fairly regularly, a meeting of that kind - with the entire upper echelon there - was probably fairly rare. This particular meeting was to celebrate the retirement of Dominick DiBella.

He was dying of cancer, correct? IIRC, he was horribly skinny in the photo.

That's what I find so interesting. Is that you have basically 6 different crews (bosses) operating with little interaction between the guys up top. Besides the boss of the crew and the boss the outfit.

The crews seem so independent and detached from the others, seems odd and interesting to me.

It is a famous photo showing all of the hierarchy of the Outfit siting around a restaraunt table, posing for a picture. The only person still alive in the photo is Joey "the Clown" Lombardo. I'm sure someone here has it and could post it for you. I don't have it.
