Im watching this documentary of Frank Mathews (70's drug kingpin). Apparently , Frank lived in the same neighborhood as Paul Castellano and other Gambino mob figures. Im talking about right across the street , not down the block or anything. The Gambino's were ticked because Frank was circumventing them , bring the drugs into the country by himself and cutting them out. Frank also loved to party and his large parties at his residence would catch the attention of law enforcement ( something castellano didnt want). Anyway , int he documentary in mentions how mobsters went to his residence and tried to get him to move out of the neighborhood. Frank vehemently refused. I guess that the mobsters then threatened him and his "oranization" and Frank supposedly said "touch me or any of my men and I will ride down to Little Italy in manhattan and kill all of you wops".

Anybody know if this account is true or not?

Probably one of those underworld tidbits from the past that is more myth than reality.

Castellano’s house was built in 1980. Matthews disappeared in 1973.

Not too sure about the date Castellano's house was built

but according to multiple sources , they did reside in the same neighborhood

Quote:
Business was so good that he was able to build a nine-room, $200,000 home at 7 Buttonwood Rd. on Todt Hill in 1971.
Castellano lived not far from him, and mobster Three Finger Brown was another neighbor. Matthews was the only black homeowner in the well-heeled neighborhood.

Three Finger Brown died in 1967, when did Mathews move in?
