If you have family that has gone to jail, then i can understand your hatred. But that doesn't mean i disagree with criminals going to jail because they have been informed upon. At the end of the day if you involve yourself with illegal activity and theres more than three people involved your going to get ratted out eventually because not every one holds their criminal ethics over their freedom or lives,its just unrealistic to expect that, especially from a large group such as a crime family.

As for the whole taking an oath thing you have to look at the people already inducted when they are making someone new. Most of them are too old and entrenched in their criminal ways that they don't know nothing else so their is little chance of them reforming. So all that ceremony is, is some old guy poking your finger with a needle and burning a card because he now needs help committing his crimes because he's too old and also so can carry on making money without having to work and still be relevant.To make the inductee feel better about this the old gangster sells him fairy tales about the good old days and also gives him a title such as made man to make him feel important. Its just a sales pitch so that low level guys feel like they have something to work towards even though most of them won't make it anywhere except jail or the dead.

speaking of rats all the turncoats in the tommy shots trial with no murder convictions does the d.a. have to tell the judge yaeh will except you giving them 20yrs. it be a change for once there all shooters and i bet all the rats are thinking out of 10 8 guys rolled and the 2 guys still beat them at trial, do you think, they think i should have went to trial. even the springfield rat anthony his friend fusco went to trial and beat 2 bodies, does the judge and d.a. have to give him more time cause fusco wanst convicted. the d.a. still gonna bring up the murders at sentencing thats so unfair to the defendants but it is what it is.

Those cases are good examples that people are realizing that the informants are worse and more depsicable than the people they are testifying against. People on jury's realize that giving hardly any or no jail time to early informants like Gravano and D' Arco was a mistake because Gravano and many of them ended getting kicked out of the program or going back to jail. So I think jurors are more reluctant to listen to informants

Henry really wasn't a big mob guy, like Goodfellas makes people believe. Hollywood has that magic to make small things into big things. Great movie though and interesting story. Always watch it when it's on.

Believe me when I say we're on the same page. That I find these people interesting doesn't mean that I like them or what they do. I'm glad they don't have honour and that they turn on each other as quick as they turn on us - quicker sometimes. My post was in response to a 'rats are bad' post. I don't see them as any better or any worse than any of the other predators out there that live that life. It's just more of the same self interest in play.

Thats the thing, they've never been affected by it. These guys are only applying ratting to mafia, when it applies to anything in life. Forget explaining it. It's something you either get or you don't. I am with you 100%, though.
