Always loved the movie when I was a kid, and only later found out it was based on true events.

Although they were declared dead by the FBI, who were probably embarrassed, the United States Marshal's Service is still investigating the case, and will do so until the escapees reach the supposed age of 100 years. Also, the guys from Mythbusters proved it was possible they made it.

So, what do guys think? Did they drown that very night or did they make it to the shore?

I think they made it. They were not going to do all this effort only to drown in the end. I'm sure that after they succeeded to escape the eagerness to be free is what brought them ashore.

Pizzaboy, I was in your neighborhood yesterday running some errands with a relative. Stopped by Emilia's restaurant for lunch and had some Chicken Due Funghi which was great. Then stopped in La Cantina to stock up on a few wines. I wanted to head into Mario's but it was packed with customers.

I was at Mount Carmel right around lunchtime, Dapper. Tomorrow is the Feast of Saint Anthony (the feast itself was last week, but the actual feast date is always on June 13th). Anyway, I stopped by to light a candle. I was also at the Arthur Avenue Market yesterday. I stopped by to talk to a friend.

Small world indeed. I was in the area celebrating the successful sale of my godfather's business (bodega/deli) the previous week.

I was particularly surprised at the number of people shopping and buying in the area. It has always been a lively area, but now some streets were jampacked with more people than I previously remembered. Tons of students/tourists, guess I have been away at school too long. Good to see the area is doing great.

If you don't know what you are talking about, keep quiet. England invented football, Americans took rugby, changed the rules and called it 'american football'. It's well documented history.

As to only the poor playing it...it's the biggest sport in the world. From rich to poor, not that this should matter.

No I am English and its football not soccer. Let me weigh into this as I like American sports like NFL and I watch football (soccer) too, football can be very boring I agree, 1-0, or 0-0, a waste of 90mins to me. I love NFL but at times its frustrating how stop start it all is so all sports have their flaws, no need hating on each others.

Football players wouldn't last 10 minutes in Rugby and I'm an NFL fan, there fitness isn't up to it 40 mins each way no breaks, and you might want to try it before you judge it because your playing with no padding at all.

It's not about soccer being called football outside of the United States, it's about soccer being called soccer in Commonwealth Nations. Even the Afrikaans word describes it as "soccer". I'd figure it'd be easier for you to understand, you being Dutch and all.

All this started with you claiming they call football 'soccer' in the UK. Which they don't. Ask anyone from the UK. They've been calling it football since the the Middle Ages.

It's funny because I have had these discussions before. The word football comes from Europe. Then the US invented 'American Football', great sport BTW, and started calling the original football 'soccer'. Fine by me. Just don't be surprised if the rest of the world keeps calling football football.

I have to agree with Chopps. All of Europe call the game "football". The game started overhere (Europe) and when the game later spread to Africa, some few African countries (I think Nigieria being one of them) started to call it "soccer" so that the game would not be confused with "American football", a sport that had been established allready in America.
