NEWARK, N.J. - Federal prosecutors say 14 people have been charged in an illegal online gambling operation run out of northern New Jersey.

U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman says 13 people, including alleged members of the Genovese organized crime family and its LaScala Crew, face charges of racketeering conspiracy. The other defendant's charged with transmission of wagering information.

Fishman says the gambling website was maintained in Costa Rica, but bettors paid or received money in New Jersey.

The Lascala Crew is also accused of cargo theft and receipt and sale of stolen goods. They also allegedly profit from illegal gambling at social clubs it operates in north Jersey and elsewhere.

The defendants were due to make their initial court appearances Tuesday afternoon. Two of them remain at large.

know alot of guys that do this stuff always wondered how they got away with it.?.?

Interesting that LaScala was the only made guy, albeit a Captain, that was picked up. No other made guys (that we know of) in this indictment.

Looks like LaScala is now the official captain since Prisco is doing life.

Looks like the swag in this indictment includes 293 cases of wine shipped from Italy, 4 LG plasma TV's, and bed sheets.

first time long time like sports talk radio, looks like that guy nicky skins sank these guys ship to. he crushed the patriarca family and philly, now thw genovese, the gambino family must be trying to save face or not. i read the complaint, along the way someone said theres alot of badblood between 2 famlies. all these indictment must be bad news for a new leader?

Nicky Skins has done damage to philly and new england but there hasn't been a direct tie in to this case or recent gambino cases by the FBI yet although I do suspect he played a part, but the big question is how good is nicky skins evidence. The defense lawyers will have field ripping apart nickys evidence after all their clients are facing gambling charges and non violent charges while nicky skins blasted away a guy before killing himself. Also Thomas Gioeli and Emilio Fusco not getting convicted of murder charges where there were plenty of alive informants testifying makes you wonder

So far the fall out from Nicky Skins has included the Patriarca acting boss, a Bruno captain and soldier, and a Gambino soldier. Was it confirmed this Genovese bust was connected to Nicky Skins?

here we go agiain the feds wasting tax payer money on people wanting to gamble their own money. why cause they have one so called made member? this is NOT what the fbi is supposed to do when it was created. i mean, if there is a crime this should be a state or city crime. the feds when created was to protect the innocent people from bullying or should i say extortion. And we as tax payers are supposed to believe that theres a deficit and that one day there might not be socisl security. well i say stop wasting millions of dollars on needless bookmaking investigation and buy houses for all the people that lost their homes cause of the financial mess we are in cause of wall street and NOBODY got convicted.
