Vic Domone was another well known name in my household growing up. I think ALL Italians were popular in my house. lol Yes, he had a nice voice and that song you posted "You're Breaking My Heart" is among my favorites. My father (and brother) had that song by several different artists. smile

Have a great day NJBoy smile

NJBoy, I thought I was PMing this back to you. My mistake, but no harm done.

The man sure was a great one. Anybody know if he's still alive? He must be really old if he is.

He's still alive. He's 83 now.

Fun fact about Damone, being that this is a mob related board: He caught tons of shit from the mob for marrying Diahann Carroll (a black woman). These guys were never bastions of liberalness, to say the least. He was reportedly blackballed in Vegas for a short time because of the marriage. He ended up divorcing Carroll anyway.

He's on his fifth wife now eek

Damone gets pretty consistent play on the Sirius Radio Sinatra station. It seems like they play a lot more of his covers of standards than of his original listed above. It doesn't seem like a lot of his original hits had much staying power.

For anyone not familiar with it, "Tzena Tzena Tzena" is an Israeli folk song about the joys of working on a kibbutz (although now that I look it up it seems to have various sets of lyrics). I guess that in 1949 it would have been popular because of the founding and war of independence of Israel.

Oh yea, I forgot that Damone was married to Diane Carroll. He also was married to actress Pier Angeli. Doing a bio check I see he had four unsuccessful marriages.

Speaking of Carroll. She is on tv's White Collar and still looks great.

There's definitely some good looking black ladies out there. Sad thing is many are still racist and don't like to see interracial couples. That's too bad. Robert DeNiro has got crap for being with black women too.
