First off, how would a current day Italian Mobster act? How about a Associate or Wise Guy to be more specific?

I know about the 10 commandments, but what are other wise things to do and not do?

What would be some tasks for a Outsider, or Associate to do?

I'll add more, but this information will greatly help me. Thank you in advance.

Deny Deny Deny.

Never let your right hand know what your left hand is doing

If your friends are "talking", walk away if it doesn't concern you. What you don't know, can't hurt you.

If you're supposed to meet a guy at his house and you get there and he isn't home, wait outside for him, never inside his house.

Jealousy is your worst enemy.

Never threaten. Just do what you have to do and be done with it, but don't threaten.

It's always smart to have more friends on the outside of your crew than inside.

And the most important piece of advice: if your signature is obscenely huge, make it smaller. Or die.

Read the Joe Pistone book if you want to know this stuff.
I'm sure wiseguys haven't changed much since the 80s.

He said they spend a lot of time bullshitting with each other. They deal drugs, they get drunk, they get in fights, etc. The whole honor system doesn't (and never did) exist.

I think the reality is an Italian criminal acts about the same as any other criminal. Only difference is he belongs to a more organized crew and kicks up points to a captain.

Here's a mob question:

What is the origin of the nickname "Rusty" for Rastelli? I assume it is linked to his ties to Rust St and the factories of Maspeth. That's where his trucks ran, his club nearby and he's from Maspeth.

I think it may be a combination of this and his last name.
Also, he was said to have been very fond of a gun he used to have in his possession. This gun apparantly had a special rusty spot on the barrel.

Thanks for the response. Now that I think about it, you have to be 100% correct. In Bill Bonanno's book, he mentions the rusty gun and said he recognized it as Rusty's gun.

After the Troutman St ambush, some of the shooters left guns behind. When Bill Bonanno was subpoened he was asked to look at the guns he recognized the rusty spot and says so in his book.
