which american lcn family is presently the most prone to violence? scarfo was pretty bad back in the day but in terms of present families its hard to tell. maybe the columbos since they seem to be very unstable which could lead to more murders but i dont know.

The Genovese family has probably had the most hits in the last decade or so.

Internal fighting could also be a factor, like you said, the Colombos. And the Luccheses had its own civil war, and the gambinos had minor skirmishes.

Infighting? Definitely the Colombos, then the Luccheses. Albeit a distant 2nd.

The Genovese by far for outside enforcement. Philly too, though Philly was up there with the Colombos in terms of infighting.

thanks for this and the rest of the responces guys. i first wanted to get an idea of it all. makes sense that the genovese family has the most with them being the biggest, but it seems like philly over the last ten years even with the drop in violence within its own family is still one of the most violent families for its size in the country. granted, we might be measuring this only on some of the murders, as this and other violent crime might be harder to track. thoughts?

Who are these people ? And associate with who ? Also is it known why they were on a hit list ? Is Perrota and John Beebee made now?

i think peter argentina was an associate of the lucchese family

"Police say Mr Argentina may have affiliations with the Luchese crime family.

They said although Lastorino wasn't a member of the Luchese, his father Frank Lastorino Sr., was, and had been sent to prison in 1993 for conspiracy to commit murder.

Police say Lastorino's brother is also in the Mob.

But instead of appearing like an orchestrated act of mob violence, police say they think Lastorino acted alone."

They were associates of one type or another. Don't know off the top of my head who they were with.

On a site note, one of the redeeming features of the AmericanMafia site is the hit list that runs from 1991-2004, for those who haven't seen it. Wish they'd update it. You can also add Tony Machines being wounded in Philly.

Until I found the awesomeness of this site and the exception of bitterqueen and hollywood goodfella, americanmafia (along with bitterqueen and hollywood goodfella) was my only source of Italian-American organized crime

Dappah, you a smart man; I've always givin' your blogspot mad props (not to mention the fact you do a tremendous job with detailing legal side and the legal wording of mobster's predicaments, indictments, etc.)

Where you go to Uni? I know your a Dominican in NY, what do you want to do, career wise? Oh, and I'm a nice Italian-American goin' to a Lutheran college out here in Cali, that's got a sister college in Brooklyn (Jackie Aprile Jr. from The Sopranos went to it, good drama program). I'm a poli sci major with aspirations of becoming a defense attorney (my old man's one, and it definitely runs in the family). Will go to law school after a 4 year stint in the military.

I'm Dominican American (born in NYC) to be exact. Currently going to business school (my focus is management and organizations) at one of the ivy league schools on the east coast and graduating in late May. I am actually looking to go into govt work in either DC or NYC specifically economic development stuff (tax incentives, low-interest loans, etc) or alternatively doing some management consulting work at a consulting company. I also have some political aspirations so maybe I will go for some type of office one day, who knows. I majored in international relations (lots of poli sci in there) and economics during undergrad.

I thought about law school but I find law to be extremely boring (except RICO) so I opted for b-school instead. Good luck to you in your studies.
