The University of Connecticut has notified 11 scientific journals that research on the potential health benefits of red wine led by one of its faculty members appears to contain falsified and fabricated data.

Following a three-year investigation, a university review board has concluded that Dipak K. Das, Ph.D., the director of the Cardiovascular Research Center at the university's school of medicine, in Farmington, manipulated research data in at least 145 instances.

The misconduct spanned seven years and 26 journal articles, according to a report issued by the board.

Hmmmm....I wonder if he was paid off by the Grape Growers of America, or whatever lobby group represents wineries??

I always thought of a bidet as a back up toilet???

Gay marriage backers get majority in Washington state Legislature By msnbc.com staff and news services

A Washington state senator on Monday joined those lawmakers who support gay marriage, ensuring enough votes to pass a bill out of the state Senate.

"I have very strong Christian beliefs, and personally I have always said when I accepted the Lord, I became more tolerant of others," Democratic Sen. Margaret Haugen said in a statement posted on her website. "I stopped judging people and try to live by the Golden Rule. This is part of my decision. I do not believe it is my role to judge others, regardless of my personal beliefs."

The state House already has enough support, and Gov. Chris Gregoire has endorsed the plan.

I went to the gym Monday after I got off work. I had been going there for the last 5 years. The place was dark with a sign on it that said, "Closed, sorry for the inconvenience." Well I checked into a new gym last nite and it's freakin awesome. It has a bball court and a sauna. I feel like a kid at recess when I'm there.

Lilo, whenever I say the dirty word "Exercise", I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

Well duh!!! You have to reward yourself after a workout. What better than chocolate? Geez!!

There is NOTHING better and refreshing than a sauna after working up a sweat.... I can't do them as much (high blood pressure) as I'd want but I wish I could.

I've tried saunas... I don't know... I could just walk down the streets of NYC in August. The pool is "refreshing" to me.

The streets are crowded enough without tourists making them worse.

Curious, do you find the pool more refreshing before or after you try to blind the pool's owner?

After a workout, the last thing I want to do is put myself into such proximity to other peole. In the summer, I come home from the gym or jogging and jump in the pool.

Ordinarily I would agree, but one experience with the Russian baths in NYC changed that. Must have been about 15 years ago and I was out drinking with some friends (male and female) as usual. This one night we overdid our usual limits and ended up going to the Russian baths on the lower east side. We then spent a few hours in this huge HOT room sitting and pouring buckets of icy cold water over ourselves. We had to wear shorts but all shyness was lost as we started. I don't think I ever felt so clean and relaxed after coming out of there.

Going in for a sleep study tonight, which should be a barrel of laughs. Will see if I actually have sleep apnea finally, but that'll depend on my insomnia.

My brother did one of those. He was diagnosed with sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. He never could get used to the mask he was supposed to sleep with, so he just suffers with it (and so does my sister-in-law).
