I dont think anymore, the only one's I know about were the JBM in Philly, who were very close with Salvy Testa and few other Scarfo members.

I don't know if any are around today, but I remembered a post on another, non-OC related forum. Here's some names to look up. A little hard to sift through, but it's short. Nothing today, although, I see plenty of black men on the mob family charts if you'd like me to get their names?

Quote:
Jeff Fort and the black p stones, the black mafia family, larry hoover and the gangster disciples, willie lloyd and the vice lords, the chambers brothers, maserati rick carter, demetrius holloway, young boys inc.,the 4 corner hustlers,& the best friends of detroit are a few examples.

Seriously though I think some of the bloods and crip sets have become fairly organised and structured, they have a ranking system for members.

in the 70s in NY you had people like Peewee Kirkland, Frank Matthews, Frank Luca, Nicky Barnes - who all dealt with the Italians in one way or another and kind of applied what they learned from them. Applied money laundering, investing, loan sharking (Peewee Kirkland called it "Sherlocking" lol) and things like that to their criminal regimen . Same with Melvin Williams in Baltimore , who actually plays the church pastor on season 3 of The Wire

Today it doesn't seem like the connection is there. Crack in the 80s seriously messed up those neighborhoods and the whole mentality people on those streets have. Street gang's drug operations may have become more sophisticated because they have to adapt but overall I don't think any of them are organized at the level of not just the italians but any type of group involved with racketeering, beyond selling dope. credit card scams too - seems a lot of street gangs are big into that.

In the 60's and 70's there was a group of black gangster who called themselves the "black mafia" (original I know LOL) who worked closley with the family, while commiting their own criminal activity. They moved drugs and fenced in the projects and black section of towns, but they also committed murder for the family and were just recently connected to a early 70's murder of community activist Leon Jordan whom was causing problems for the family guys who were on the city council. From what I understand they conducted themselves, dressed and simply tried to be a black version of the Italian OC.

Also Best Friends. There have been a few. Upthread someone mentioned Philly's Black Mafia. I thought I did a review on a book about them but maybe not.

Anyway this is worthwhile though like with any book in this genre it has a few mistakes, biases, contradictions or scores to settle. (The author is a former Philadelphia Police Officer)
Black Brothers Inc.

And Gangsters of Harlem was a shorter, more focused read. It was slightly more romanticized in some parts.

"When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives."
Winter is Coming

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—as old and as true as the sky; And the wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the wolf that shall break it must die.
As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk, the Law runneth forward and back; For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

First time poster, long time lurker. Wasn't sure where to post this, but the article gives some further insight into Craig Petties, a connection from BMF to Beltran-Leyva.

You could have started a new thread OR just posted in this one (as you did). It's OK.

with the amount of cocaine they were moving they def had to have a direct connect to the mexicans.

They were also working with a number of blood and crip gangs that would help them distribute cocaine.

I even read somewhere they were extorting p diddy.

no your links about the old black mafia in philly. The chart i got off google images of the black mafia family. A major cocaine trafficking group.

But as for the philly black mafia theres still a few remnants about working with some of the newer drug gangs. you should definatley check out george anastasias mob talk and mob scene vids he covers the drug world and they have come up in a few recent cases.

I'm tired of GA, I've seen all of the videos of him filming himself under some broken down bridge. My brother-in-law was at the paper for a little bit. That guy makes a big deal out of nothing. " No One is allowed to know where George is at this given time." "George is unavailable! HA"

He still boasts like John Stanfa, said he was going to kill me, who didn't he want to kill, there's a funny news article George wrote about him "grunting and mumbling shit in Sicilian/ broken English." What a boss he was, John "Ovebite" Stanfa.

ha ha. I dont know GA pesonally but i wouldnt be surprised if the paper he works for takes care of him better than everyone else, he is probably the foremost expert on philadelphia organised crime there, with all those best sellers and everything. If im honest id expect to have some special treatment aswell, take sick days whenever i feel like not be bothered by people, bang the secretary.

Heres an interview with the author of that android book about the black mafia you linked.
