I ran this poll for the past month on my blog www.fivefamiliesnyc.blogspot.com

Colombos 55 (10%)
Bonannos 53 (9%)
Genovese 88 (16%)
Gambinos 66 (12%)
Lucchese 37 (6%)
Philadelphia 66 (12%)
New England 140 (26%)
Chicago 27 (5%)

Total votes: 532

Over 500 of our readers voted in in our most recent poll and made their intentions known that they would like to see the next mob movie based on the New England mafia, the Patriarca crime family. The Patriarca's have had a storied history especially in recent times. Taken down by FBI informant/murderer Whitey Bulger in the 1980's, followed by a civil war, the reign of Baby Shacks, and the recent defections of Mark Rossetti (apparently another Bulger episode) and the rumored disappearance/defection of Bobby Deluca. This would definitely make very entertaining viewing that's for sure if it ever came to the big screen.

Make sure to vote in our new poll!

A movie about Gaspipe or the last Colombo war would be awesome.

Philly family would be nice, New England would be cool also. But a movie about the Colombo wars would be the best, or the Boston wars.

None other than the Rizzutos.

I got two ideas that would make a good film.
1. The mobs involvement in the sex industry during the 70s and 80s. Could possibly focus on time square at the time. Could have characters based on the perainos who financed deep throat.Apparently they ended up getting shot which would be a good ending for a film. Probably not be the most flattering portrayal of the mafia still an interesting story.

2.Do one on the philadelphia underworld in which the story of both the italian and black mafia intertwine as their were certain instances where both groups had members working together but also so sort of came apart at the same time.

Number one for me would be a movie about Gaspipe. That would be an extremely suspenseful movie without the "hollywood dramatazation".

A close secound maybe even 1A would be a film about the Colombo wars. I think Greg Scarpa would make for a hell of a character.

Third I would like to see something made about the philly family, Scarfo or Stanfa regime.

A movie on the philly guys starting with the Bruno hit would be great. Plenty of violence and intrigue for an action packed 2 hour movie. Those guys literally wiped out half the family and the feds took care of the other half. Not much left until Ligambi started putting things back together.

IMO a movie on the Colombo war would be my second choice. And a movie on Gaspipe wouldn't be too bad either. That guy was crazier then scarfo and smarter too. Gas made a shitload of money in his day. Can you imagine if scarfo had cops on his payroll doing hits like gaspipe did.

They can't do the Rizzuto movie yet, they don't know how it ends!

Burton "Downtown Burt" Kaplan, he was involved in the "life" for decades, and involved in all types of shit. He was with Christy Tick and Gaspipe, dealt with the "mafia cops",etc. He dealt with the hasidic Jews, mobsters, African dictators, and one of the first to deal with the Chinese when they opened up their economy to the West.

Very often, when a book is turned into a movie, the result turns out not that good. The producers are always struggling with squeezing a life story into an one and a half, two hour movie. How are they supposed to do that successfully? That is why people often say "oh, the book was so much better than the movie", because the book is always richer with info and events.
As good as, for example, the Donnie Brasco movie is, the book (at least the 1986 edition) is so much better. There is a lot of good stuff in the book, that was never described in the movie.

Another thing that is quite irritating (at least to me) is when the same actor appears as the same character throughout the movie, even if the character has aged 40, 50 years.
So easy to see all that make up and not many 20 year old actors can act the character of a 70 year old. And vice versa! smile

No question Scarfo from Bruno's murder on ,The story line writes it self ,will need no bull thrown in.The movie would be on the edge of you seat all the way through..

And Scarfo did have cops,All the way to the top...

Didn't they have the mayor of Atlantic City in their pocket?

Moe : Yes , He was a local guy from Linwood, but he had family that lived in the city ,there for his children were around here all of the summers.

The oldest son worked for the city, he was was in the body shop.
The mayor also had the same ties to ducktown and the chelsea section of the city.
I can not remember if he grew up in the city or if he just had aunts and uncles here.

The Accardo burglary is one of the least interesting topics for an Outfit movie.

There's certainly no lack of stories, but a lack of decent actors to play the parts.

If I could get one pic made it would be Murder Machine with special effects by Tom Savini.

Another film I'd like to see is a decent bi-op on Accardo.

As for a Scarfo/Philly Mob pic, who'd be good as Scarfo?

Maybe they could get Danny DeVito to play Harry the Hunchback? smile

I think a great story is that of the Bonanno's rise and fall with Joe Bananas and their rise and fall with Joe Massino....even though Massino turned out to be a huge hypocrite and rat, the fundamental changes that he instilled in family structure will ultimately help the families in the long run.
