You always hear about the revenge factor with the mob,but sometimes I wonder if it still exists. My friend down in Miami tells me Chris Paciello is back working at the Delano Hotel has food and Beverage boss.I mean didn't this guy help put some of the big boys away like ''Ally Boy'' Persico and then some.He was like in the witness protection program like 3 days before he quit.He was out in LA for a while but now he's right back in the thick of things in Miami.Has the mob gone soft or what,I don't get it?

Things have changed. Nobody cares. Over on the Real Deal, Kenji Gallo has posted a bit on his views on why he thinks this is. Its in a large part just opinions, but like PB has said, there's not alot of sense in going after guys that have already done their damage and moved away.

Its my own opinion that anybody dumb enough to get done by Chris "Paciello" Ludwigson probably deserved it anyway.

It tells you something about the current state of things that nobody bothers, though. Sure it might be different if he was hanging around the old neighbourhood spots, punking wiseguys and such (Hey! Remember me, fuckers?!? Whaddya gonna do, eh?) but what wiseguy today is gonna risk going away for life just for the satisfaction of knowing you killed some rat. Most of the damage he did is well in the past now. The guys he didn't hurt wouldn't give a shit anyway.

Yeah that's what I sort of thought unless u run into the guy by chance I guess its not worth taking him out and maybe going to jail for life. What would that prove? But its even along the same lines a little bit like Ron Previte,I mean he's basically out in the open too,not quite as visible as Paciello but still visible. There's a guy Paciello ran with back in the day in Bensonhurst when they were called the Bath St.Gang or[something like that]and he was in the witness protection program down here in Florida, they set him up running a pizza joint.Well one nite about a couple of yrs. ago some customers brought back a sandwich they didn't like, and then 1 thing led to another the mobster pistol-whipped the guys and he got exposed.I don't no what ever came of that but they said they saw some stange guys with jersey tags riding around the neighborhood the next few weeks, again I don't no how it turned out.I guess it all depends if they want u bad enough.

Well, Monacello is not officially a "rat"...even if I think he is.

And the guy from NJ was running strip clbs in Texas. A TV show about him exposed him and he had to be relocated. Also he was facing some law issues due to his involment in the local vice scene.

Monacello is living in Ventnor, he was seen in Atlantic City, next town over.Vinny Ocean is in Texas.

Have any of u guys ever heard where they did find a rat over the years whether he was in the witness protection program or not and killed him?I remember one of the charges against Peter Gotti was conspiring to send somebody to Arizona to whack Sammy The Bull.I think I just thought of 1 guy, Mario Riccobene.Yeah I think Stanfa had him whacked at that diner in Jersey in either 92 or 93.

That was Fat Sal Mangiavillano, a 400 pound associate who "learnt how to be mechanical" from dicking around with stolen cars from a young age. Apparently in an effort to make his bones he staked out Gravano's workplace and set up a camera to catch his movements. It didn't really go any further then that. His plan to use a car-bomb to take out Gravano was apparently sanctioned by Peter Gotti, who said it was okay since "Sammy broke the rules first".

Once Gravano was arrested for dealing pills in 2000, the plan sorta "died on the vine". Facing bank robbery charges, Fat Sal flipped as well. He testified against first Huck Carbonaro and Peter Gotti, helping put the latter away for good, and linked the Gotti's to the Silwa shootings and Carbonaro to an alleged "threat" towards Jerry Capeci.

I've said it a hundred times. Today, there is little to gain from going after a rat once the damage has already been done. It would just bring additional law enforcement heat and wouldn't stop future rats from turning. Where the mob is still willing to kill is if they believe a guy is informing but before he has fully flipped and the damage has been done.

Did Chris Paciello get into it with some Latin Kings don't know where but Chris Paciello knocked one of them out using a television set and was on the hit list of the Latin Kings.

I agree with you though I can't help but think that the mentality of the older generation of guys like the one's in the 60s or 70s would mean that no matter the situation they would get even, especially if they knew a rat was living in the open. I'm thinking of the story of Nino Gaggi killing a man who broke his nose, that kind of mentality, the old school Sicilian one.

I think that even though there would be no point in killing a rat who had testified those guys if they lived today wouldn't be able to help themselves. I think obviously guys today aren't as ruthless.

It was Gaggi who got his nose broken and avenged it by killing him, wasn't Dominick and DeMeo in with it aswell? Its in Murder Machine? They tried to blow him up originally.

You're right, it was Gaggi, with Montiglio and DeMeo being involved. But getting revenge in a personal beef is different than going after a guy who has flipped, has a much higher profile, and law enforcement is already involved.

Why would the mob risk going after some rat who most likely only ratted out some key rivals or people who might of ripped him off?

Look at how so many informants carefully choose who they rat out and all the prosecution seems to care for is a sentence.
