Kansas City has long had mob ties to illegal gambling operations and this week two brothers pleaded guilty to keeping that tradition alive. Michael C. Sansone and Anthony V. Sansone both pleaded guilty to running an illegal gambling operation that the Fed’s have been investigating for over a year now. The Sansone brothers ran the gambling operation using the internet and a toll free number to take wagers.
The Sansone brother were simply keeping a long time family business working into the 21st century. The Sansone brothers grandfather was Anthony “Tony Ripe” Civella who led the Kansas City Mafia outfit for years taking over for his uncle Nick Civella and his father Carl Civella. The Fed’s for years payed close attention to Tony Civella because he was a major player in illegal bookmaking. Civella was thought to be involved in mob linked bookmaking since the early 1950s and ended up spending time in jail for it on two seperate occasions in the 1970s and 1980s.
Looks like the younger Sansone’s simply inherited the nack for the family business and took it into modern times. They routed telephone and internet wagers through a room in Costa Rica for processing. The mob links to offshore gambling operations seems to be a growing theme as old school bookmakers make the switch to more modern technology. Earlier this month two men had also pleaded guilty to running a similar illegal offshore operation, Kansas City doesn’t get many headlines these days as far as Mafia activity goes hasn’t forgotten its gambling roots.

Yeah, as stated in the "Families Outside of NY" thread, the KC family should rather be called the KC Crew
Sure they still keep books and all that goes with it (money-lending...) but it's very small.
Same thing with LA.

I don't have the knowledge to say how many guys do they have...but I'd say: few.

Here's my "small families club" in size order:

- Detroit
- Philadelphia
- Boston\Providence
- Elizabeth\Newark
- Buffalo
- Kansas City
- Tampa

What do you guys think?

That arrest was from 2009. The KC family/crew has about 17 made guy out of prison in various levels of activity from almost no activity to very active. Gary Jekins who is a retired KC cop who was in the intellegence unit investigating the KC family in the 80's and author of ganglandwire.com, when asked about this case said their is obviously some organization but stopped short of calling it a family. I am of the opinion that KC is right in the middle of the slide from an operating family as in 2006 to that of a functioning crew of made guys and associates who work together on some things such as gambling but mostly operate in small groups independently of each other with their own action and activities.

Mike and Tony are with their Uncle Vince Civella, what that amounts to really is they answer to Vince with regards to their involvment in gambling which from my understanding is their only criminal activity. This makes sense because they can make a real nice living from gambling and not risk long prison sentences.

Well there are many including some in the Police department who believe that the Cammisano grandkids murder in 02 or 03 and Charles Cammisanos murder in 2007 were connected but the last one with an arrest was 1991 Larry Strada. But what difference does that make, the FBI recognized a viable family until 2006. AS I said, the family has been in decline since and is now more of a crew. And lets be honest no one cares now, they are a couple of bookies in a dying family/crew. Regardless of whether their is an active LCN family there will always be the book,to much money to be made and very light punishments handed out if caught

Saw this on BHF - Nick Civella, the son of Anthony "Ripe" Civella was sentenced to 21 months. This stems from an investigation into a methamphetamine distribution case in which Nicky was suspected of being involved. Although they were not able to find enough evidence to indict him on his involvement, they did find enough to charge him with a typical bullshit were going to get you one way or another Fed charge. Here is the article.

Right on Ivy. Haha. You always post your cool sense of humor. Here is a recent thing about KC and a meeting they held talking about ending the family. I believe this more than believing the grandkids took over. Furio's a cool guy, though.

As I pointed out, according to your tape Willie Cammisano jr. was there. Did they let him out of prison to tape this?

Yeah and he has 2 years on supervised release. They have this wiretap recording of a guy on supervised release meeting and discussing mafia business but they have not violated him. Okay.
Look don't get me wrong I don't think that Sansone brothers took over anything. I just doubt the validity of this alledged wiretap. First the meeting would have been considerably larger and second You simply don't vote to end a family, you may have had some guys retire from activity, but this simply does not make sense and would be a first, historically, the death of the family is the result of deliberately maintaining low membership much like NO combined with general attrition.

Reminds me of Richie Apreile's ballroom dancing son in the Soprano's.

Though to quote Seinfeld 'Not that there's anything wrong with that..."

MORGAN: Why didn't you fight him at the park if you wanted to? I'm not goin' now, I'm eatin' my snack.
CHUCKIE: Morgan, Let's go.
MORGAN: I'm serious Chuckie, I ain't goin'.
WILL: So don't go.

The hunky 23-year-old is the grandson of the late Mafia boss William (Willie the Rat) Cammisano — who reportedly got his name for the way he disposed of bodies

Who gave him his nick name? Philip Carlo? Or did he really like the movie Willard?

Who even gives a shit about a guy being gay in this day and age?

But the media gets to play three of their favorite angles:

1) The gay thing.

2) The interracial thing.

3) The mafia thing.

It's old and tired rolleyes .

Why is it unbelievable? It's basically a tabloid article.

Also his grandfather and dad were involved in OC, and probably his great-grandfather too, so they're going to claim he as their son/grandson is as well, even if he's not. It shouldn't be a surprise to Vito that the press would mention his relatives, or claim he's taking on the family business.

Joey Dice posted about how other people in his family or with the same last name were killed.
