I actually find The Brunos to be way more interesting than the NY families, even the Gambinos. I think the media's fascination with the Gambinos is mostly a matter of region. If The Brunos had been in NYC then Scarfo probably would've been a forerunner to Gotti in terms of national fame/infamy and Merlino would've been another Capone in the same way.

He lived to a ripe old age alright, probably because he was put on the shelf, ha. Being that Merlino was the boss before Joe Ligambi, Ligambi obviously took orders from him and gave him kick ups. Seems he didn't have a problem showing obedience to such a younger man.
