Does anyone know a bit about him? I know he was close to Salvie and was used for the hit on him, what did he do after that? Did he go away in the late 80s with Scarfo? Current status? Can't find much on him. Thanks

He went down with Scarfo in '87, we was released last year to a half way house in Florida. He's in his 50s now.

Do you think he will be inactive from now or will he be welcomed back into the fold? (if he wants back in)

I don't know. The Philly mob is basically a shell of its former self. I don't know if there is an advantage of going back in. Look at Joey merlino he loved the life but it doesn't look like he wants in right now at least

Merlino has three years up supervised release. He'd be insane to go back to Philly now. There's been hints of him backing Mazzone already. I doubt it's the last we've heard of him.

Nicky, as for Pungitore...who knows. A few Scarfo guys like Joe Grande and Frank Narducci have jumped back in, but I haven't heard anything about him or his brother Anthony coming back to Philly. These guys just did 20 years I doubt they want to get involved, they'll only end up back in jail. They're still fairly young too, they have a chance at having a real life.

Was it Joey Pung that everytime he entered a bar, they (other wiseguys) used to play that song "Thats What Friends Are For" on the juke?

Funny.

It wasn't "every wiseguy", it was Wayne Grande, who hated the Pungitore family. Grande was positioning himself to take over Tommy DelGiorno's crew after Scarfo demoted him and he viewed Joey Pungitore as a threat to his potential promotion. Of course the bust of '87 took down both of them and it became moot.

Yeah well I said other wiseguys. Not every. And Wayne Grande was another wiseguy.

Although an Italian guy named Wayne? Assimilation's a bitch.

It sounds like Scarfo had quite a lot of young guys around back in the 80s...Philly kid was Joe Grande the shooter in the Testa murder? Also its interesting u say he's jumped back in, would he be in his 50s now? Do u know who he's running with now?

Wayne Grande was the shooter in the Testa hit, but he flipped back in '93. His brother Joe is probably 51 or 52, but I hear he's back in town and he's in touch with people. I don't who he's with. Wayne's kid, Dominic Grande, is a player in jersey, he got picked up in that borgota bust in 2007.

The grandes couldn't wait to get at salvie testa...they are some of the only guys who didn't like salvie...couldn't wait to split his stuff up

I'm intrigued by this guy...I respect how a young guy did over 20 years without flipping. Was this guy in his 20s when he got his button? Also The Grande that flipped was the one who shot Testa? The other Grande didn't flip?

Philly guys, It seems in the 70s 80s there were many young Italian guys who were ready to kill and desperate to join the family, are there still guys like that or is it really hard to find young guys??

Great question, the answer is yes. There are tons of Italian (and I use that term loosely) kids in South Philly who want to be a part of that life. The tricky part is that these kids for the most part are complete idiots who just happen to have an Italian last name but from the ones I know and see seem to follow everything about the rap culture which disgusts the Philly LCN. Also, the guys in the 70's and 80's were hard core, most of these Italian-American kids grew up coodeled lives since there arent many poor kids in South Philly like there was during the Bruno days.

As was seen with the Merlino crew, many of the kids also have been brainwashed by shows like the Sopranos, Goodfellas ect and want all the glory and glamor like they see in these shows and movies and seem to want it way to much but will run away from doing anything huge like killing or armed robbery anything too risky.
